The Power of Grouping to Begin Connecting the Multiplicative Field

This session will share findings from research on the power of grouping in helping students to connect important mathematical ideas from the multiplicative field. We will look at student strategies in grouping problems for multiplication and division with multidigit whole number, whole number by fraction, and connections to rates and graphing.
