The kidnapping of Westerners by jihadist groups is a highly complex issue. In an effort to provide insight on this critical subject, the CTC is proud to release its in-depth report on trends related to these incidents. Importantly, the CTC is also making the data from the report, a collection of Westerners kidnapped by non-state actors from 2001–2015, publicly available. It is hoped that the report and accompanying data will serve as an important resource for policymakers, practitioners, and academics interested in this issue.
