What does this do?

This module allows you to quickly generate, format, style and manage front end form templates for custom ListIt2 instances.

Who should use this module?

You must have a working knowledge of ListIt2 and at least one custom ListIt2 instance.

What field types may I use?

The following ListIt2 field type definitions work with ListIt2FEEdit:

The following ListIt2 field type definitions do not work, nor are they likely to.

There is no guarantee that other field definition types will work with ListIt2FEEdit.

Be aware!

  1. This module is an alternative, not a replacement for FormBuilder with Stikki's UDT to save FormBuilder data to a ListIt2 custom instance. See FormBuilder submission to ListItExtended for details.
  2. The default ListIt2FEEdit template does not contain any javascript. You need to code any form field validation (other than the nominated Title field and if implemented, Captcha), the jQuery UI DatePicker, WYSIWYG in a textarea, ajax form submission, etc, yourself.
  3. Once a record is saved, the ListIt2 custom module respects the 'PostItemSave' Event. You could for example, associate a UDT with this event to send an email to the administrator notifying him/her of the newly added record.
  4. By specifying an item_id in the module tag, you can update an existing record. It is strongly recommended that you only use this feature on FEU protected pages.
  5. ListIt2FEEdit does not support the ListIt2 time control feature.

How do I use it?

Simply put the following tag in your page or template:

    {ListIt2FEEdit mod='ListIt2MyCustomModule'}

This outputs the default ListIt2FEEdit template on the front end. To create your own templates, in Admin, go to Layout->ListIt2 Front End Edit, add a new tempate and code away.

To edit an existing record, create a detail template, eg 'feedit' in your custom ListIt2 instance and enter the following tag:

    {ListIt2FEEdit mod=$mod->GetName() item_id=$item->item_id}

Then on your content page, call the custom ListIt2 instance and set the detailtemplate to 'feedit'.

To create a Delete link for an existing record, create a detail template in your custom ListIt2 instance and enter the following tag:

    {ListIt2FEEdit action=delete mod=$mod->GetName() item_id=$item->item_id returnpage=$page_alias}

Then on your content page, call the custom ListIt2 instance and set the detailtemplate.
