My experiences as a student, school administrator, and as a professional have not only prepared me for this role, but they have shaped the way I lead my life.

As a student, I was privileged to experience just about every type of educational model being offered to children. My education started with the Montessori curriculum. I attended private, parochial school from kindergarten through the 6th grade. I went on to attend suburban public school for 7th & 8th grade and then I was blessed to graduate from the Detroit School of Arts in 2010. The diversity in my educational experience shaped who I am today and informs what I know is possible for our students, staff, and families.

After college, I came back to Detroit and worked in corporate America, but I soon felt called to pivot my efforts toward the children in our schools. My time at Legacy Alternative Academy was integral to developing my understanding of our most challenging students and their families. Working in an alternative academy and introducing students to a school culture and environment designed for them proved to be effective, not only for the students, but for their families and home communities as well.
