Styles It Is! A Lockwood and Codeglue Joint
by Jin Lovelace, HSM team writer and filmmaker
To be honest, this project was quite the laborious challenge for me. For fashion, there are a lot of garments available on Home that are nearly impossible to combine, while the few just take rigorous effort to make them work (http://www.twilighttouchinc.com/2013/07/make-it-work-bleeding-truth.html). For the average consumer, easy accessibility would be the fitting endearment when it comes to fashion these days. Regardless of what’s in-season or the motive thereof, most desire items that they can fit with anything they have.
So for Lockwood’s Wedge Heel Boots, I was tasked in creating some styles with the use of the footwear and allude the thoughts of inaccessibility to pants on Home. A fair warning, these boots are not the type you could wear and pair with anything in your wardrobe. The problem with this sort of commodity is the sheer complexity; of how they aren’t compatible with many pants on Home, for you’ll find out that the items would clip/bleed right through several of the available apparel.
A simple solution would be to pair these boots with a few Leggings found in Codeglue, right? Well if you count their recent release of the Jean Leggings, then perhaps so.
This video presentation closes any argument that I may have had in the past and of recent that Lockwood’s footwear are useless (as one put it) and does–indeed–work with several items to create an effective outfit. The key to these outfits were starting with the colors and motifs of the boots first and then with the Jean Leggings. From there, it’s just good imagination and a sense of colors and theme to give ordinance to concoct the styles.
I wanted to play around with some camera tricks and editing options more, so I’m sure you’ll notice this in the presentation as well.
Finally I desired to have something smooth, yet slightly unorthodox for the music to compliment the outfits and the motives behind each one; a fitting theme (thus the title of the video “Styles It Is”). I felt a bit jazzy at the time, so the song “We Got (the Jazz) by A Tribe Called Quest would be good for the machinima.
As it was fun for me to produce this presentation, I hope this will give you some inspiration to come up with a few styles of your own with the combination of these items.
Cheers!
