Go Heroic On A Budget

by Kassadee Marie, HSM team writer

If you’ve ever dreamed of being a superhero or heroine, this is is the perfect time to try it out on Home. That’s because of the new locomotions, of course. But there’s more to being a super hero or heroine than just flying, so here are some ideas that I have to get you started on your way to saving the world — on a budget, of course.

Today’s modern superhero or super heroine needs the right personal estate, at the right price, and I recommend the City Penthouse for $4.99 from Sony.

This penthouse could be located in Gotham City, or Metropolis or wherever your secret identity persona resides. It’s a very modern space of two floors with a large balcony on the lower floor. This balcony has a great view of a city at night, water feaCity Penthousetures, including a water fall, and several seating areas for conversation. You could use the smaller upstairs area for your bedroom and bath possibly, and the divided downstairs area for your living room, study, and kitchen. Or simply have your living area upstairs and have the downstairs areas be your office and super hero meeting room. The balcony is to take off flying from, of course.

For furniture, you’ll want to look through what you already own for a large, comfortable-looking bed like the ones from the Dream Yacht or the Tycoon Penthouse and a few accessories. You’ll also need a great living room set, such as the white reward couch and chair from the Vendetta game at the Abstergo Labs public space, a kitchen set such as the three-piece Country Kitchen set in blue or red for $1.99 from Lockwood’s Cucumber line and perhaps some bathroom fixtures, also from Lockwood or from Loot. You may want to set up an office, and I recommend the Ghostbusters Den bundle for $1.99, also from Loot. This wood nine-piece set is outstanding and comes with an additional item that is only available in the bundle.

Essence of the Tides

Super persons always have the latest gadgets, so consider picking up some items from Juggernaut, such as the Essence of Tides for $2.99 and some of the Nautilus Adventure Pack items, such as the Bioluminescent kelp or the Bubble Fissure for $.99 each, if you’re an Aquaman-type hero. Try the free Essence of Winter to make a Fortress of Solitude with some of JAM Games Ultra-cool furniture items, such as the Winter Window Frame for $.99. If you like the whole set of table, sofa, chair, fireplace, and window frame,  the pack of five pieces sells for $4.49, so that is a little savings. If you happen to have been a super villain in another incarnation, and you own the Villain’s Lair, you will have one perfect item for this space, the Fallen Hero statue that is an owner’s reward for that estate.

Super Pup

For those occasional times that you’re resting at home and not out saving the world, you’ll want a faithful, super companion. So, the obvious choice is to pick up the red-caped Super Pup and/or Super Kitten for $1.99 each from Sony. And if you want to treat them right and show them your love, you’ll also want to pick up the eleven-item pack from Loot for $3.99 called the Animal Furnishings Bundle or some of the individual items in the pack that are suited to your pet, such as a dog house or pet bed for $.99 each.

I think a “Super Party” where you ask your friends to come dressed as super heroes and heroines would be a lot of fun once you get your space set up just the way you want it. Since every party needs music, I suggest Loot’s RadioIO for music in your personal space. You have a choice of seven styles for $6.99 and one for $8.99 — the reel-to-reel, which an older super person might prefer. A younger super hero should check out the Boombox or Giant Boombox and a super heroine might like the Jambox or Minibox in pink.

Pink-Orchid_croppedThe Costumes Originals store has male and female hero and heroine costumes, called the Epsilon Viper and Captain Inflame-O for the guys and Pink Orchid for the ladies. All three sell for $1.49 each, and each has four pieces. All you need to complete your look is the ability to fly. Some of the first locomotions to come out were the ones from nDreams, and the one called Super Flight is the best for a “general” super person look.

It won’t be possible to match a known superhero or suprheroine perfectly, because for one thing, most super heroes seem to wear tights and Home doesn’t sell many for guys except those for Captain Inflame-O and the wrestler, Mr. Apocalypse (that I know of) but you might have some ideas of your own. If not, I have some ideas that you might want to try out.

wonder-woman-3

Wonder woman’s outfit can be made with the headpiece and hairdo from the female heroine, the top from Midway I, (Darla’s Darts, Prize #8), blue swim suit bottoms, two large bracelets, and tall red boots, such as those from the elf outfit. With wings, you ladies could put together The Wasp costume. She’s supposed to wear a black body suit with yellow, but you might substitute black pants and black top (or yellow top) with long black gloves, and add nDream’s $3.49 Angel wings. A Hawkwoman/girl costume can be made with bright green pants, a yellow top, red boots, such as those mentioned above, and a few additions. The Midway I prize from Trigger Happy, (Prize #5) can be the hawk helmet and the Angel wings from nDreams can be her wings, also. Remember when you buy wings, you’re buying a piece of your costume and a locomotion, which makes it two items in one and a bargain.

Silver Surfer

It’s very easy to make the Silver Surfer with the Loot alien freebie and Ice Hero locomotion for $3.99 from nDreams, if he is the superhero of your choice. Or you guys might want to try out Hawkman using the Angelic Armor top from Sony Costume Originals, the green leather suit pants and red kicks from Threads Originals. The Midway I prize from Trigger Happy, (Prize #5) can be the hawk helmet, as I mentioned above. The Human Torch, can be made with the Scream Machine hair from Mass Media, the aura from Konami called Hellfire and the Super Flight locomotion from nDreams. Just wear a well-muscled bare chest, such as the free one from Heavy Water, light colored pants without a pattern on them, such as the free white pair from Lockwood in October and bare feet.

If these heroes are not for you, check on the internet for pictures of your favorites and then check over the stores for items that will help you put together the look you want. Don’t over-look items such as the female wet suit or gymnast pieces, or the male gymnast or surfer or bobsledder pieces, which could be a great start to a costume. And don’t forget to use the hero or heroine pose when you’re standing still.

heroes_we_are

Occasionally someone or some group of people believe that Home needs real “heroes” and they form a club with a name like “GoodHomePatrolGuardians” and then go forth to do battle with the forces of evil (commonly known as trolls and pervs). I am not recommending that you do this, in any form. It seems to me that these individuals and groups often become more of a source of problems, than a solution to them. There are resources for all of to use to handle those who break the Terms of Service (TOS) such as the report, ignore and block commands. As hard as it can be, not responding to them usually is the best answer you can give this type of person. They are looking for attention, even negative attention, and if you provide it to them they will look for more attention from you. Not responding inevitably results in them wandering off to look for a different victim. If you want to play hero or heroine on Home, I recommend that you keep it in the realm of fantasy. “Don’t feed the trolls.”

Finally, let’s test your knowledge of superheroes and heroines with a little quiz.

Who said it? Match the sayings with the super-person:

1. Superman
2. Human Torch
3. Hulk
4. The Thing
4. Wonder Woman
6. Captain America

9. Beast
10. The Tick

E. Great Krypton!
F. It’s clobberin time!
G. Flame on!
H. Hulk Smash!

Home is endlessly entertaining to this California girl. Kassadee has been in Home for about four years, and loves almost everything about it (with a few notable exceptions). She spends way too much money there, and perhaps too much time... Someday she will travel the world and write about the people she meets and the places she sees.
