The Nightlife Lounge – A Real Club Space

by Burbie52, HSM team writer

The recent update in Home was huge. It saw the long-awaited update of Lockwood’s Fantasy line released with the accompanying frenzy of activity at the Showcase. There were new Rogue outfits added in Fool Throttle to accompany the new fantasy genre and help boost the experience gained for gathering eggs and rewards. The Gothic Cathedral was opened for public view and there was a lot of new clothing and other virtual commodities released as well.

But in all of the hoopla of the latest update of the last week of May, there was a new personal space/club skin released in the X7 early this week that seems to have gotten lost in the crowd: the Nightlife Lounge. This space is not only going to be a huge hit with many club owners out there, but it is specifically built with clubs in mind.

Fashion is big in Home. Anyone who has been around for long enough here knows this. Here is a club skin with not only a built-in stage for the models who walk it, but there are lights all along that stage that follow your avatar’s movements. This is the perfect club for all the fashion freaks out there who give shows, and there are more of those than you think. Clubs like Rich Girls of Home will be lapping up this space like kids in a candy store.

Stage area

The space is not too huge, which gives you a decorating bonus, and it comes with the usual furniture bundle choice. It also comes bundled as a personal and clubhouse skin with furniture pack for $9.99. Not a bad deal if this is your thing, but I must say that while I can see the appeal for many here, it isn’t for me.

The interior lives up to its name. There are two bars built in, one with fake bottles along the back and the other has a mirror facing the “customers” who can sit on the stools provided in the furniture bundle. One thing I can say for the space: they didn’t put a lot of baked-in furniture, so it allows you to make those choices for yourself. The bar areas are not accessible, though; you can’t go behind them and role play being a bartender for your guests. That was a fail in my book; it should be open for that.

There are stairs leading up on either side of one of the bars that are inaccessible to anyone. These are supposed to lead to the DJ upstairs where there are built in smoke machines and lights for the dance floor down below. The fact that the stairs are cordoned off is another fail; I think many owners are going to be disappointed when they realize they can’t get up there. And the “DJ” isn’t really there; there is no generated music at all in the space. The only noise is the sound of the smoke machines when they turn on, though the fact they turn off and on is a nice touch.

Nice dancing area

The dance floor dominates the center of the space in front of these stairs and bar and it is the nicest thing about this new addition to the already saturated personal space market. It has a wonderful oscillation of lights that radiate through it in very neat pastel tones of many different colors. There are the aforementioned smoke machines and multicolored pin spotlights that move on a circular rack above it to add to the nightclub atmosphere, and in this one thing they succeeded. It does feel that way.

The space itself is a long rectangle, with the stage area on one end and the “dining” area on the other with the dancing floor in the center. Though it is a fair size, it is not too large to be decorated properly and give it that “lived in” feel that I like to achieve with my spaces.

The stage is another very nice feature here and will be one of the major reasons this will be a must-buy for some. It has a decent sized “changing” area behind it with a large working mirror, a lit walkway that goes in a rectangular path and leads back to it and lights above it that follow you as I mentioned before. The walls are decorated with a nice modern sculptured look and there are turquoise drapes with glitter hanging above the seating areas on either side. There is a lot of built in lighting here, from the ambient floor lamps to the hanging light above the stage. I liked this area of the space very much, and can see it being used for many things if it is a club, but as a personal space it is a fail for me as I would have no use for it. There is a noise loop here of people laughing and having a good time, but that can be a turnoff to some if it interferes with what they want to do there.

The other side of the central dance floor holds the fancy dining area of the club. It holds a beautifully-rendered chandelier in the center that reflects on the highly burnished black granite floor below as well as the mirrored ceiling above. The walls in this area are the best part, though: they have taken a hint from the Desert Haven bar area and the walls have a cascade of water running down them, which is a very nice effect. The bar at the end has a nice functioning mirror, though you still can’t get behind it and the area has its own ambient sounds of people eating.

The bundle pack of furniture is made up of a few nice pieces. It contains three different types of stools, one of which looks like a tree stump, and I can’t fathom why it was included as this is a fancy space, not your backyard. There are two couches that make you sit upright (a feature I think should not be there anymore), an end table with an ice bucket, a coffee table and an active desk fountain item that makes a nice water sound, but I doubt I would use as it takes up twenty two slots in my inventory.

All in all I think this space will do well as a club, but I don’t see it as being a big hit for a personal space, unless someone has a dream of being a nightclub owner. Though it has very nice detail in the walls, flooring, lights and ceilings, I don’t think this will be enough to recommend itself for personal use in an already saturated market, unless you are one of those people who simply buys everything.

  • Nice detail in space.
  • New moving light features.
  • Stage built in for clubs.
  • Nightclub atmosphere.
  • Can't get behind bar.
  • Can't get up stairs.
  • Fake DJ with no music options.

Great review Burbie. The space looks good, and no meat head bouncers with gold guns at the door! I’ll probably not get this one, but it’s great they are branching out to other things besides the standard fare.

i agree about as a personal space, not a good idea. but as a clubhouse, i rather like it. layla dancing at the dance floor for music, dusty down by the runway for that ‘spicy’ music for your modelling, but at the other end, for the most part, i made a games room, since it seems more built for entertainment, not eating (though i did put one romantic table with two chairs and a table for a buffet). some cabinet games and a pool table. pretty much something for everone. a hot tub by the runway on one side and a fireplace with a bear skin rug on the other. the possibilities are endless even with a smaller space, but it has so much potential for so many people. a great clubhouse!!! and excellent article!!
