I am a new user of PS Home (about 48 hrs in fact) and so I am going into the achives here if you will and perusing both the Magazine and Podcasts…I must say that I am a buyer of items that visually appeal to me..I love the Loot Orbital station for the tech goodies(S.A.R.A and the E.O.D)..I do agree with Terra that sometimes buying is done in a knee jerk fashion..We see something impulsively and it’s like omg a must have!!! I wonder if any of you have purchased something then just decided to never use it because of those kind of decisions…

I have purchased Spaces based mostly on the aesthetic factor as well as functionality (EOD and the like)..My favorite space personally is the LOOT Space…Why?…Simply because I like the gadgetry( S.A.R.A) and also it is visually stunning…I also agree the Luxury Lake Retreat is too much at one time to try and figure out how to fill it…Love it …But its just way too big!

After some disappointments, I now want to see a space before buying: a tour or a Friend’s space. So of course I bought the Midnight Glade and Dream Yacht the moment they came out. So much for logic… I bought the LOOT Space apace just for the earth view. Nothing else matters or is used. I wasn’t going to buy anything more for *weeks* because I’d bought several expensive spaces, then I saw a Friend’s Go Fish space & bought it. Not for the game (although I did get the underwater apartment), just the beach & view. After talking to my daughter about why I choose one space and not another, she said, “You buy places that tell you stories…or maybe…places that you have to find stories for.” That makes sense to me. I’ll leave the analysis to others.

Great podcast as always Jersquall. When it comes to buying personal spaces for me it is first impressions that count. I try and see them first and if they have something I like be it a mini game or the aesthetics that is where I base my decisions. It is great when they have both of these as well. Each space I buy is like an empty canvas that I paint with the furniture I acquire. Many times when I buy a new piece of furniture I go back and redo my spaces with them. I always think about where a particular piece would look better and it has a lot to do with my decision to buy.
Aesthetics are very important to me when making a decision, but I have so many places now that I am going to be extremely picky from now on as to what I buy if anything. The dream yacht set the bar for me as far as aesthetics go and also in what a space should do to give back by giving all of those great furniture awards not only to me but to my guests.

Sorry, I forgot to say great job Jers, Norse, and Terra on the videocast. I love that you have added video to these instead of just having them be audio. I know it probably takes more work for your editting, but I am sure all HSM readers appreciate it. I know I do. Keep these coming cuz they are awesome! ^__^

i don’t really buy personal spaces because I am never in my own or at a clubhouse or in public, but I have a high appreciation for aesthetics of personal spaces whether it be about realism or artistic quality. After seeing the LOOT space apt, I do think that the technical features of that space are probably the most of any space so far, but I’m sure this has inspired other developers to see what else they can come up with. A descent amount of space I think is good for decorating purposes and good for entertaining lots of guests. For example I think the Sodium Louge space is the largest space on Home right now and quite impressive in that regard, especially for it’s price. I admit that the few spaces that I bought recently were because of the mini-games and associated rewards. I think mini-games in personal spaces might make them more appealing to the more gaming-oriented users of Home, but not necessarily a primary selling point. But personal spaces can be used for different purposes such as video/photo shoots where picturesque scenery and good lighting are paramount. All in all, I can’t say that there are certain qualities are necessarily more important than the other to make me buy a personal space. I think people buy different spaces for different reasons and so all of these attributes and features come into play when deciding to purchase one.

I personally would like to see a clubhouse without the house that is a small beach with a campfire on a moon lit night with the ocean rolling in slowly. Maybe a ship floating very slowly way off in the distance with it’s lights. Nothing tricked out. Just ambience! I could see alot of people getting together and having a really good time in that setting.

I tend to go for spaces that I can identify with. Like music… something I can relate to. I am now listening to Perfidia and were that song a space, I would probably buy it just as I would Moon River which I heard earlier. (My taste in music is generally early 60s rock.)

I thought I would identify with the Loot Space space ha ha ha punny and while it’s grand, it’s not what I thought it would be as far as enjoyment. So much for past science fiction influences. No regrets on buying it though. I’ll figure out something to do with it.

The Gold Mansion, well, I’m still waiting for Mary Pickford and Douglass Fairbanks to show up. That’s my identification there. And I’m sure Boris Karloff or Bela Lugosi will someday magically and horrifically appear in the Zombie Dead space.

I do very much like the yacht with the movies and music, mainly for the music. However, so far the Log Cabin is still my favorite place. When I come on Home that’s where I want to go because it’s a place I can relate to.

Nice interview. I never thought I’d sit through a 20 minute podcast but I’m glad I did.
