Festive Stitchkins

Granny Lockwood’s been hard at work again, and this time she’s taken her inspiration from the chilly extremes of the planet, the North and South Poles! Pumpkin Pie the Polar Bear and Popsicle the Penguin can’t wait to play with you. They both love to do tricks – be patient and they’re sure to show you what they can do.

Pumpkin Pie can balance on his front paws and Popsicle loves to twirl a candy cane. Granny Lockwood also knitted them some cousins just for the Gift Machine – look out for them – they’re only available for a limited time!

Seasonal Gifts

As well as the Stitchkins, you can get other decorations that are adorning the Showcase from the Gift Machine, including the Monster Truck as a Companion and a Giant Timmy the Gingerbread Man ornament. The Seasonal Stockings are FREE up until 15th December, so gift them while you can before they go up to full price!

Winter Hairstyles

Midwinter Angel or Burning Desire? This Winter Medusa brings you the latest hairstyles, perfect for relaxing on a frosty afternoon or heading out to a glitzy evening party.

Men have the choice of a new short, mid-length, or long look. The Troy is a side-parted, clean-cut look with just enough tousling to ensure it won’t look out of place with smart or casual attire. For those with angelic tendencies, there’s the wavy mid-length Gabriel, and for those who want a more casual look, The Tropical Dreamer is a long dreadlocked style.

Ladies can opt for up, down, or somewhere in-between! Up is The Burning Desire, an exquisitely complex do incorporating pinned waves and plaits, while down is The Eve, with gloriously long waves. The Midwinter Angel offers the best of both worlds, with pinned back sides and long loose locks.

If you’re not sure which look to go for, the Medusa’s Winter Hairstyles Packs are available for both Male and Female, mix it up for each party!

Midnight Glade Announced

New Year, birthday or just a general celebration? Have the ultimate fireworks party without bothering the neighbours in the Midnight Glade personal space from Lockwood. The open grassy fields with their gently sloping hills and spreading oak tree may seem idyllic, but just wait until you unleash a pyrotechnic display on that dark sky! The Midnight Glade offers plenty of space for dancing and watching pretty lights explode across the heavens, while the campfire area provides the ideal spot for chatting and barbecuing. This all new personal space is set to launch on 15th December.

‘Tis better to give than receive, and boy is Lockwood giving it to us over the following two weeks. With the constant stream of new content available in the Gift Machine, they are certainly banking on the community getting swept up in the holiday spirit of giving.

As a concept, it’s really no secret that the Gift Machine is a hit. The 80-count token pack has been on the top ten best seller’s list since its debut, and it’s likely a safe bet to say that it’s not going to fall off the list any time in the near future; seeing as it’s the holidays, it’s possible that we may see an uptick in the purchase of the larger token packs. I can recall even in my early months on Home, as I was making friends and really hitting my stride, that people were wishing they could give items to friends. That was nearly three years ago. It’s actually a bit surprising other major players in Home development haven’t conceived of similar strategies.

Considering all that is going on with Home this week – what with the very exciting revelations regarding the 1.6 version update – it’s very amusing to think back upon the countless things we wished Home would have then and see what we have (and what we will be receiving) now. Long before I wanted to have more furniture items in my spaces, or even greater control of who could and couldn’t message me, one of the most common requests was the one for more hair styles. Now we have just about every length, cut and style conceivable for both sexes – in large part thanks to Lockwood’s initiative. I myself recently picked up the Retronauts hairstyles. And they continue to provide us with more looks.

The Stitchkins companions were made for the holidays, and I don’t know about you, but I just get the biggest kick out of the mental image of “Granny Lockwood” sitting before a console and using a Sixaxis to knit a polar bear. Both my grandmothers passed away relatively young, so I never had one, but I had plenty of crafty aunts who, between the quilts and the cross-stitched ornaments and the hand-knitted scarves and Christmas stockings, more than made up for this.

Pay attention next week when Lockwood announces their next update – particularly the Midnight Glade and the fireworks. They’re doing something rather unique with this, and it is definitely relevant to your interests.

Once again Lockwood proves that if you make it they will buy. They have great initiative when it comes to providing us with new ideas and content, and I think that with Sony stepping up and creating a whole new Home for us it has inspired all of the developers to kick it up a notch to the benefit of all of us. Another great release and I am totally looking forward to seeing the new personal space! You go Lockwood!
