News From nDreams: Thing in a Box
Many thanks to nDreams for providing the video content for this article
Virtual pets have rapidly established themselves as big business in PlayStation Home; whether it’s a dog, cat, bunny rabbit, mini-mech or zombie, Home users seemingly can’t get enough of having cute companions trailing along behind them.
Go on, admit it: you have one, don’t you.
It’s okay. You’re not alone.
Heck, just look at SCEA’s top-ten lists that we publish here at HomeStation; invariably, you’ll see virtual pets on that list. And since those lists are sorted by number of purchases (as opposed to gross sales volume), this means that a lot of people are purchasing virtual pets.
nDreams — the developer that brought you, among other things, a little adventure called “Xi” (an obscure in-Home gaming experience, really, that nobody ever heard of at all, nah…) — has just announced what might be the single coolest virtual pet to ever hit Home:
Thing in a Box.
Thing in a Box is simply the coolest and most unusual companion ever seen in Home.
What is it? We simply don’t know.
But there is no doubt that someone or something is alive in that box, peeking out, following you around and pulling some truly unique moves. HomeStation Magazine has managed to secure this spy footage of a Thing in a Box:

Please keep in mind that many brave souls labored to bring you that snippet.
The government’s official position is that the Thing in a Box does not exist. Reports of possible military applications for the Thing in a Box, and footage of surreptitious tests conducted at Sandhurst as well as Area 51, have been denied by Downing Street and the White House, respectively.
It should be noted that even Terry Gilliam, Julian Assange and Tom Cruise have no idea what the Thing in a Box is.
Is it the Stig? Is it a TARDIS? Is it Susan Boyle? Your guess is as good as ours.
You’ll just have to buy the Thing in a Box and find out for yourself.

Mystery not yet solved ((
Hmm… looks familiar…
*goes to closet*
I hope they never show us what it is. The things we imagine will be so much better!
Okay, it’s Thursday morning. Who’s bought it, and what do they think of it?
The Tardis, yes, I think that’s what it is. Need the key….where’s the Dr?
I want a little sister. Do you know how excited I was when the new update contained a lil sis??? Pink robot, bleh lol. Bioshock won all sorts of awards, but the mess up with the apt isnt doing any favors for them with Home users i guess. Id love a little sister to drag around.
I always pictured Susan Boyle as taller.
Could it be….Mini-Me????
