History: In 1876 Sam Crockett sold his Donation Land Claim to Thomas Calhoun. Calhoun built this home in 1890, but part of it burned in 1897. The house was rebuilt around the original fireplace which remained intact. Calhoun then sold to Herman and Margaret Wanamaker who lived here from 1920 until 1981. The Wanamakers planted most of the trees and shrubbery around the house. Their daughter Francis Hinton inherited the house.

Description: Vernacular Farmhouse. Wood frame set on post and block foundation; L-shape (32’x 60’); 6 bays wide; 1-story.
