History: The Col. Walter Crockett House was built c. 1860 on a Donation Claim of 322 acres filed by Crockett on March 6, 1866. He came to the land west of Crockett Lake in December of 1851. Walter Crockett Jr. eventually inherited his father’s property on the condition that he stay and take care of his parents in their old age. Walter Jr. was a County Commissioner, member of the Territorial Legislature, and member of the State Legislature. The house later came into ownership of the Fred Armstrong Family who held the property until Mrs. Armstrong’s death in 1970.
