History: This farmhouse was built on the old Hugh Crockett Donation Land Claim of 160 acres, filed April 1, 1870.  The house was built as a small shack-like building by the Gillespie family who purchased the property from the Crockett’s.   The Gillespie’s rented the property to John LeSourd who farmed the land for many years.  By the time Gus Reuble had purchased the Gillespie property in 1935, the old Crockett Farmhouse, which lay in ruins behind the Gillespie house, had been used as a chicken coop.  This structure has since been destroyed.  The Reuble’s were responsible for the additions and improvements made to the small Gillespie house.  Mr. Reuble built the large cow barn c. 1940, and his family lived here until 1957.

Description: Vernacular Farmhouse.  Wood frame set on post and block foundation; rectangle (30’ x 20’) with hip-roofed addition on south façade; 3 bays wide; 1-story.
