History: Sam Keith Built this farmhouse for his wife and children in 1895 after leaving New England in 1888.  He worked with a team to help build Fort Casey at the turn of the century.  Keith also cut and sold wood, farming the land as he cleared it.  Mr. Keith died in 1945 with his wife passing away the following year.  The house passed to their daughter and her husband Bob and Bertha Austin.  They, in turn, passed the property on to their daughter Barbara Humphreys.  In 1978, the Hurlburts purchased the house from the Humphreys.  During Sam Keith’s ownership, additions and enclosures took place to accommodate the growing family.  The Hurlburts put on the aluminum siding c. 1977, and replaced temporary sash in 1978.

Description: Vernacular Farmhouse.  Wood frame set on post and block foundation; irregular (32’ x 30’) with shed roof addition on south façade, and gable roof addition on west façade; 4 bays wide; 2-stories.
