History: Mr. Howard, editor of the Island County Times, was an early owner of this house. The original building was the square, hip roof section. Numerous additions have been made to the structure. By the early twentieth century the gable roof addition to the east had been constructed with an open porch overlooking Penn Cove. The house originally faced Front Street but the street eroded away into the Cove several years ago and now access to the house is from 9th street . The Lindsey family lived in the house during the 1930-40’s. The porch on the northeast façade has been enclosed and a bay window constructed.
Description: Vernacular Residence. Wood frame set on post and block foundation; square with 1-story gable roof additions on north and east facades; 1-story; shiplap siding; wood-shingled hip roof.
