History: This structure was built in 1859 by Frances DeLouri on a site north of Penn Cove. The original portion of the house is of horizontal log construction with dovetail ends. In 1926, the structure was being used as a pig sty. When Maude Fullington decided to purchase it and have it moved to Coupeville, Mr. Fred Kreuger disassembled the structure, numbered each log, and then reassembled the structure at the new site. Mary Fullington planned the design of the house, and Oscar Sandburg, a local carpenter, did most of the finish work. Many items incorporated into the house came from buildings then being demolished in Seattle. The windows were from Dr. Hortons’ house, the glass door from the Coleman House, the sun porch from the Coleman Dock, the interior stairs from the Pontius house, and the door from the old Forestry Building at the University of Washington.
