History: This house was built in 1927 as a much smaller structure. Mrs. Muldar lived in the house until it was sold to Polly Harpole in the mid-1930’s. For the next twenty years, the structure housed Polly Harpole’s Maternity Home. There was no hospital in Coupeville at that time, so most children were born at this maternity home. The building was extensively remodeled and expanded during this time.

Description: Vernacular Residence. Wood frame set on post and block foundation; L-shape with 1-story gable roof addition to west façade; 3 bays wide; 1-story; wood shingle siding with clapboard siding on addition; asphalt-shingled gable roof with cross gable on east façade; exterior end chimney on south façade. Exterior features include multi-pane/1 double-hung sash with plain surrounds.
