History: The Congregational Church had this building constructed in 1889. From 1896-1908 the Puget Sound Academy was situated to the southeast of the Church. Those buildings have since been razed. In 1934, the Corporation of Catholic Bishops purchased the building and established the first permanent Catholic Church on Whidbey Island.
Description: Queen Anne Church. Wood frame set on stone/concrete foundation; hip-roofed addition on east façade; 3 bays wide; 3-stories; shiplap siding with decorative shingles in gable ends; wood-shingled gable roof with cross fable on east/west façade. Exterior features include multi-pane fixed sash above 2/2 double-hung sash surrounded by stained glass; attached 3-story square bell tower with spire and finial on northwest corner; attached one and a half story square tower with hip roof and bracketed cornice on southwest wood railing and stairs.
