History: This house was built for Carl Gillespie c. 1903 by the Coates brothers. The building was originally located across Main Street at the site of the Courthouse Annex. The building was used as office space for many years prior to its relocation. Mr. Downing moved the structure to its present location in 1972 when construction began on the Annex.
Description: Vernacular Residence. Wood frame set on stone/concrete foundation; 1-story hip-roofed addition on west façade; 2 bays wide; 1 ½-stories; wood shingles with clapboard siding on addition; wood-shingled shipped gable roof with cross gable on east façade. Exterior features include 1/1 double-hung sash. Exterior end chimney on south façade.
