History: This is one of several blockhouses erected on Central Whidbey Island during the Indian Wars of 1855-57. John Alexander, Sr. built this blockhouse on his Donation Claim. In the 1930’s this structure was purchased by local residents and moved to its current location and reconstructed. The Coupeville Lion’s Club built the Canoe House used to display 3 canoes.

Description: Blockhouse. Log structure set on concrete foundation; 2-stories. Wood shingled gable roof. Exterior features include extended eaves with exposed rafter ends; overhanging 2nd story with exposed round log supports; and 2nd story opening on east façade with vertical plank covering.
