History: The builder of this 1888 farmhouse remains nameless, but the original owner, Cyrus Cook, was known as a skilled carpenter, and may have built it himself. He and his wife Sarah, who taught the first Smith Prairie School, lived here for many years. After both Mr. and Mrs. Cook’s  deaths, their son  Alvin Cook lived in the house until it was purchased by Sherman Farms in 1930.

Description: Vernacular farmhouse. Wood frame set on post and block/concrete foundation; irregular (26’ x 38’); 1 1/2 stories.
