Cafe Hound: Coffee Recommender Project

Coffee Segmentation Results

Segmentation results identified six broad categories of coffee ordered from lightest and darkest roast (based on Agtron ratings). Agtron ratings are a numerical representation of the consistency of the roast color (lower numbers indicate a darker roast <45, higher numbers indicate a lighter roast 50+).  Keep in mind that more than the roast determines the flavor profile and overall body of the coffee, which is why some of these segments may appear similar.

Below is the Light Citrus Silky Segment. It is the second lightest roasted (on average) and relatively affordable.

The "Light Citrus Silky" segment is the more affordable light roast segment (compared to the Geisha group). Coffees in this group are superbly complex, bright and often contain a variety of fruit and floral flavors in both the initial sip as well as in the silky, syrupy finish. These are light bodied coffees, generally meaning they are not best when combined with milk, which disguises intricate floral and citric fruit notes in the cup. Recommended brew methods include paper/metal filter drip, syphon brew, or espresso. Coffees in this group originate from all over the globe, including Ethiopia, Costa Rica, Hawaii, Honduras, Ecuador and Papa New Guinea.
