Add your own unique touch to regular container candles with fragrance and color combinations. Yesterday I made a candle palm wax and unfortunately do not know why, but has several cracks. Kindly give me details from where I can buy raw materials to prepare candles ,I want to start my small business n this cancel making idea I feel I can do best way.kindly give me details from I can buy wax n other stuff.
The crystal like effect naturally occurs with Palm Wax, and will turn out better by insulating your molds as shown above. Pillar palm waxes, such as the Feather Palm, naturally shrink when they cool and should release from the molds on their own. Trying putting them in the refrigerator for 30-45 min or when cool…should slide right out!
There are probably as many different ways to make container candles as there are candle makers. Wax suitable for container candles and any desired additives such as dye, fragrance oil, etc.
Once your wax mixture is at the proper temperature, and you have thoroughly mixed in any additives, pre-heat your container to about 150 degrees F.
With your wax at the proper temperature (160 degrees F), carefully fill your container to the desired level. In the photo, we have filled the container to a level that leaves some clearance for the wick and lid.
Once your candle has completely cooled, you will notice that the wax has sunken a bit in the middle. With the wax that you saved from the previous step, melt it back down and bring it to a temperature of 185 degrees F. These candles are hand poured with Heavenly Love and come in paraffin and clear wax, which burns longer and has a higher scent throw quality than the paraffin wax. Actually, the flame surge resulting from the freshly exposed wick can occur with any kind of candle. Any container made out of glass or ceramic can crack, even those that are considered heat resistant, such as canning jars or glassware made specifically for candle making. Pour out enough wax to fill one-third (or one-half, depending on how many layers you want) of your jar into a pouring pitcher and add desired color and fragrance.
Allow the first layer to solidify, but do not wait for it to cool all the way to room temperature.
In this tutorial we will show the best technique to make Palm Wax Pillar Candles that helps maximize the crystal patterns in your finished candles.
Choose which Pillar Palm Wax you wish to use and measure out the amount of wax you will need for your mold.
Once your wax has melted and reached a temperature of 180-210 degrees F, add your fragrance and dye and mix thoroughly. Once your candle is completely cool remove all of the paper towels, mold sealer and wick screw.

If you have trouble getting them out, you can try lubricating the molds before pouring with Silicone Spray or non-flavored cooking spray. They have several advantages that make them popular: First of all, they are a bit like a candle and a candle holder rolled into one.
It permits us to pour our wax at lower temperatures without trapping bubbles and it improves the glass adhesion. If it is a container with a lid, remember to fill it only to a level that will leave enough room for the lid to properly fit back on the finished candle. We use a higher temperature for the second pour because it increases the adhesion between layers of wax. This can pose a risk when pouring the wax into the container, where the container, under the stress of the heat, just cracks and wax spills all over the place.
A nice aromatic votive that has thoroughly liquefied could crack its container, exposing the wick. The bottom line is that all candles should be burned on a heat resistant surface, well away from any flammable objects such as drapes or overhanging cabinetry, and most importantly, under supervision.
If you pour too hot, it can melt the first layer and cause streaking between the two colors. If you don’t have a heat gun, use the heat from your hands to gently warm the metal if it is cold. Use a skewer or the back of a spoon to poke relief holes, to prevent air bubbles from forming within the candle.
Gently remove the candle from the mold and trim the wick at both ends, leaving about ?” at the top.
Since it is more viscous, and more brittle, you will notice a thin shell of wax left as the wick burns down.
The wax that I will be using is IGI-4786, a pre-blended container wax that requires no additives. There are other great waxes available for making container candles and you may need to modify some of the instructions to reflect differences in the wax you are using. These candles are made with pure essential oils that add a therapeutic effect depending on the essential oil blend, you can make your candle uplifting, relaxing, calming or romantic. We can select the smallest possible wick that will produce the lowest possible amount of heat sufficient for a decent melt pool. On a pillar that has been burning for hours and has a nice melt pool going, a sidewall could suddenly melt loose, again draining the melt pool away from the wick. Palm Wax is more viscous than other waxes, therefore you will generally need to “wick up” meaning use a larger wick than what Is recommended for that particular diameter.  Since the mold we are using is 3 inches in diameter we will use a 36 Ply Flat Braid Wick.
Doing so will leave a line of non-crystallized wax on the bottom of your candle, as seen in the example photo.
Palm wax pillars are not recommended to burn for more than 3 hours at a time, as the heat from the wick as it burns down can cause a hole to melt in the wax shell, which may cause the melt pool to leak out. Also, because they are in a container, we can get away with using lower melting point waxes that enhance scent throw.

Once your wax has completely melted, add any additives you have selected and mix thoroughly. If you are using a heat gun, exercise some care as heat guns can get much hotter than 150 degrees F. Actually, as you might imagine, the more hazardous condition exists if the container cracks while burning. We can make sure our wicks are as centered as possible to minimize the heat build-up at any localized region of the glass.
When you think about it, a container candle that is prone to break is really no different than a pillar. Once it completely warm to the touch, wrap your mold with the paper towels to insulate, using tape to hold the paper towels in place around the mold. Always pay close attention when test burning your candles to find the safest suitable wick for your projects. That fact alone gives scented container candles the ability to effectively throw more scent than their free-standing counterparts. The objective here is to provide some sort of support to help keep the wick centered while the wax is cooling. Cover the entire bottom with enough mold sealer to prevent any leaking during the cooling process.
The other such container would be one that could potentially act as a wick. Many pourous materials can reportedly act as a wick.
The problem is that many people see containers as bona fide candle holders and may trust them to the point of negligence. As the wax drains out of the container and runs along your beautifully finished countertop, it exposes about an inch of fresh, wax-saturated wick. It is believed that the wicking action of the pourous clay could draw enough wax to fuel the combustion cycle of a flame. The flame momentarily grows to a height of ten inches, and just barely produces enough heat to catch the nearby cabinet on fire. In this case, your 1″ flame that originally exists only at the actual wick could grow to envelope the rim of your container, and perhaps the whole container. And pretty soon your little Sugar Cookie candle has turned your kitchen into an inferno of flames. Number two would be the wax that rests on the surface of the container would have to get hot enough to combust, and then produce enough heat to keep the cycle going.
