Enharmonic Notes:In the above example for the G major scale, notice that the F# could also be called Gb.
Keys - Creating Chords from the Major Scale:The theory behind figuring out chords that can be played in major keys is based off the major scale (likewise chords that can be played for minor keys are based off the minor scale).
Conclusion:At this point you should have a solid understanding of the chords you can play in any given key, and the theory behind "how and why" these chords came about. In my latest piece, Thy Fearful Symmetry, I’ve been exploring the symmetrical aspects of the piano. I began looking for some modern pieces to add to my repertoire, and was disappointed in many of the pieces that I came across.
A direct opposite to this is the Ligeti Etudes (note the performers use of the score, even in a heavily edited video…). If viewed from the note D, we see that it is actually a symmetrical grouping of 1 black note, 3 black notes, then 1 again. For keyboards which start with C, the first 12 notes are C, C sharp (or D flat), D, D sharp (or E flat), E, F, F sharp or (or G flat), G, G sharp (or A flat)  A, A sharp (or B flat) and B. Sometimes when you're on the go, you just need to jam out to some fine boogie woogie and tickle the ivories for a few minutes. Odditymall features unique gifts with a focus on geeky gadgets, survival gear, outdoor gizmos, unique kitchenware, pet gadgets, novelty gifts, and amazing product designs.
Have you ever wanted to make music on the go but figured it would require lugging around big keyboards and cases?
Included software is PC-compatible only, but Discover Keyboard USB works with Mac and PC, with all MIDI-compliant software. This product is class compliant; it’s immediately compatible with every current and future version of Mac OS X and iOS and with Windows (98SE and up) operating systems. Theory can be figured out on the guitar, but it requires a bit more thought process to figure out which notes you are playing (unless you have the entire fretboard memorized). These are called enharmonic notes because the two names F# and Gb both represent the same note.

I will use C as the starting point and relate the distance of all the other notes to C.First we will start with the intervals in the C major scale shown above.
Basic Triads (chords with three notes) like major, minor, and diminished chords, are made up for the 1st, 3rd, and 5th scale degrees.
My intent is not to rag on modern composition, I simply think the direction led by composers in the late 20th century has been realized to its completion.
So, any pattern that begins on D in the right hand can be mirrored in perfect symmetry with the left hand. All you do is keep on repeating this group of 12 notes until there are no more keys to label. The blacks keys in order are C sharp (or D flat) E flat (or D sharp) F sharp (or G flat), A flat (or G sharp) and B flat (or A sharp. The order of notes for a keyboard diagram starting with F is F, F sharp (or G flat), G, G sharp (or A flat), A, A sharp (or B flat), B, C, C sharp (or D flat), D, D sharp (or E flat) and E. The 5 black keys from lowest to highest are C sharp (or D flat), E flat (or D sharp), F sharp (or G flat), A flat (or G sharp) and B flat (or A sharp).
The 61 Key Flexible Roll Up Electronic Keyboard lets you play the piano wherever you are by just unrolling it and pluggin it in using an AC power adapter or by ising batteries. Now you can make music anywhere with nothing but Discover Keyboard USB and your laptop computer.
It connects plug and play to Mac and PC via USB and give you everything you need for learning, playing and performing piano.

When first learning theory, it is usually best to keep things as simple as possible so you can focus on what is being taught. Of course, you don't "have" to have any theory knowledge to write your own songs, but knowing this stuff will take a lot of the guess work out of writing. But as always, use your ears and they will tell you what sounds good and what doesn't. What you need to do is to recognize that there are two black keys then a gap with no black key, then 3 black keys, a gap with no black key, then 2 black  keys, and the pattern keeps repeating over and over. The black key to the immediate left of a white key is flat (?) while the one to the right is sharp ( ?).

The Roll up keyboard is an excellent gift idea for a piano player, keyboard player, or people who were just not so fortunate in life (aka wedding DJs). Everything you need to make music is right there in the package including the keyboard, USB cable and software. So if you happen to have a keyboard or a piano handy I highly recommend using it when learning theory to help you understand it better, then transfer it over to the guitar. For those that do not have a piano, you also can use the picture below to help visualize what notes you are playing. So the question is how do you know which one to use, and does it matter what you call it?In a way it really doesn't matter which one you call it as long as you use either one of the correct names.
For instance the black key to the left of D is D flat, while that same key, since it’s to the right of C can be called C sharp as well.
No cases, no heavy equipment, no tangles of wires, just you and your creativity unleashed wherever you go. If you say "play an F#" or "play a Gb" to another musician they should know what you are talking about in either case. However, from a theoretical standpoint the trick to knowing which enharmonic tone to use is you want to use every note from A to G one time in the major scale. This is the same with the 3rd, 6th, and 7th, intervals. When you flat a Perfect interval it becomes a Diminished interval. These three notes are the only notes in a C major chord, but they can repeat as many times as you want.To build more chords off of the C major scale, go to the next note in the scale, which is D. The black key to the left of B is B flat, while that same black key, since it’s to the right of A, is A sharp as well. Starting on D, build the D chord using the 1 3 5 scale degrees counting D as the 1 scale degree and making sure to use the notes given in the C major scale. When you go higher, the tone becomes sharp, while when you go lower, the tone becomes flat. The 4th and the 5th are usually the only ones this will apply to, since you probably won’t ever see an augmented octave.
