Using a Production Calendar to Calculate Internal Capacity
Previous Topic  Next Topic

An additional option for those parts created internally by the manufacturer , commonly referred to as make parts,  is the ability to calculate capacity using the working times defined by a production calendar.

Let's look at an example, your production schedule shows an increase in demand for a particular part or production family.   You would like to see if you have the capacity to meet demand by adjusting the current working times defined by using an alternative production calendar.

To define working times using a plant calendar:

  1. Access the production family details of the make part/parts.
  2. On the capacity input tab, click Use Plant Calendar By clicking the Use Plant Calendar button,  the capacity calculation now uses the working hours defined by a production calendar instead of the working hours defined previously under the capacity input tab.  Likewise when the Use Plant Calendar button is toggled off, the system will calculate capacity based on the working times defined under the capacity inputs tab.

Note: This option is only displayed for parts/production families internally sourced.

  1. Select a pre-defined production calendar from the drop down list that appears. If a calendar has not yet been defined, see Define the Production Calendar.

  1. Click Calc and Update.
