The float code defines the float pattern. Float is the amount of work-in-process inventory between two manufacturing operations, especially in repetitive manufacturing. Float can be measured in time or a fixed quantity. Float is time based safety stock. The float pattern combines with the MRP pattern to determine the required minimum inventory for each time period.
