To have accurate results using the FMRP Workbench, it is important to accurately describe the manufacturing environment. Master data, typically set up with the initial install of the application, will have to be maintained by the administrator as new plant, MRP areas, etc. occur within the manufacturing environment.

Here are a few general rules: 

• Linefeeds and workstations make up a production line.
• An MRP area is any area, internal or external to the plant, that can consume or supply a part.
• A production string represents a continuous flow of material through all linefeeds in that MRP Area.
• A production string/schedule identifies orders and empty slots, each with a scheduled off-line completion date and time.
