Maximum Model Usage
Previous Topic  Next Topic

The maximum model usage refers to the maximum  number of parts that will be used at a particular linefeed across all models per hour.

MMU = maximum number of parts per model * line rate

For example

       given a takt time  = 300 secs

       If a production line is running a 100 % capacity then the line rate = 12 models per hour

       (1 model/ 300 sec *  60 sec/min *60 min/hr)

If the maximum part per model as specified in the BOM  is equal to 1  across all models using that point of use then

MMU = 1 max part /model * 12 models /hr=  12 max parts /hr

Maximum Model Usage is a rough estimate for calculating maximum Kanban loop size.    The appearance of the MMU on the Point of Use Details session is controlled by a system parameter.
