The item group is used to:

• Classify an item with up to 5 levels of classification.
• Provide a broader search capability to filter similar items.
• Provide a means to authorize users to see only certain items.
• Item groups must be authorized for each user group. 

To create an item group: 

1. Using the Advanced menu, click Item Planning > Item Groups.
2. Click Add.
   
   

3. Enter the item group code.
4. Enter the descriptive classifications in Item Group 1, Item Group 2, etc. 
5. Click Create.

• This will generate a system description of: Item Group 1 / Item Group 2 / Item Group 3...
