This
is a short description of what will be
found
in the major sections of this museum.
Major attractions in each section.
THE WHOLE MUSEUM
An
Existential Philosopher's Museum brings together
several dimensions of existential thinking.
In contrast to other existentialism sites on the web,
this one does not dwell on the past
but focuses on the present and the future.
And
instead of reviewing the thoughts of dead philosophers,
this home page represents the thoughts of a living philosopher,
James Leonard Park.
The
seven basic divisions of this museum are:
1. LOVE
This
section of An Existential Philosopher's Museum
explores all dimensions of loving relationships between peers.
The book reviews and other rooms in this section
seeks to make Authentic Existence central to loving relationships:
romance; freedom in love; loving without needing;
jealousy; multiple loving; birth planning; sex; marriage; etc.

2. SEXOLOGY
The
sex-script hypothesis is the major innovation
of the sexology section of An Existential Philosopher's Museum.
This
new theory of human sexuality
suggests
that we are imprinted with our
sexual responses
beginning
at an early age and finishing about
age 20.
This
sex-script hypothesis informs all the book reviews
and
other rooms in this part
of the museum.

3. EXISTENTIALISM
Rather than study dead philosophers
as an academic exercise,
this
section of the museum presents existentialism as a viable,
living
philosophy for the present.
You
might already have some existential elements
in your philosophy of life.

4. UNITARIAN UNIVERSALISM
This creed-free liberal religious
movement has deep roots in the past,
but
the living, present manifestations are the
focus here,
including
such things as online sermons by living
UU thinkers;
electronic
magazine for UUs on campus;
world
wide cyber community;
and
many other resources and links.

5. EXISTENTIAL SPIRITUALITY
Existential Spirituality is
a new form of spiritual life,
continuing
the tradition begun by Søren
Kierkegaard.
This
is a living option for intelligent, self-critical
persons.
Several
book reviews point careful readers to
meaningful resources.

6. MEDICAL ETHICS
Rather than presenting medical
ethics
as a
professional or academic discipline or concern,
this
section deals mostly with medical ethics
from
the consumer's point of view.
Each
of us should create our own medical ethics.
Reviews
of several books that can help us
draw
up our own Advance Directives for Medical
Care,
books
on preparing for death, etc.

7. DEATH
We all must die some day.
But
instead of just letting it happen,
we can
make some meaningful preparations
for
ourselves and those we love.
How
would you most like to die?
This section of the museum has several rooms
devoted to safeguards for life-ending decisions.
