Weissler Holiday Gazette
Hereford Arizona
December 2013
Greetings from southeastern Arizona!
2013 was a pretty calm and enjoyable year for us.
In the continuing back-and-forth between cycling and
birding vacations, in May we enjoyed a fun, self-supported
cycling trip along the
Mosel River in Germany with our "Downhill to
Breakfast" (DHTB) friends. The pre-trip to the
cycling was in Munich, staying with friends the Pruggers
in nearby Pullach, where we were also joined by niece
Maureen who flew over from the UK. We were also able
to visit Robert's cousin Johannes and his wife Bärbel
in Erlangen before joining the cycling trip. Only a
month later, in June, we were birding in Colombia
with tour guide and friend Mark Pretti. Those two
trips basically took care of all of Liza's vacation time
(plus some!) for the year, so mostly we were at home the
rest of the year, and enjoyed the company of friends Mark
and Joanne Guralnick from Brooklyn in September, and Tom,
Diane, and Laurel Mosher from Oregon at Thanksgiving.
Locally, Robert continues as the Executive Director of
the
Friends of the San Pedro River. Liza still works for
the Army and continues as a Cochise County Planning and
Zoning Commissioner.
As usual we're planning next year's travel already.
We're signed up for a cycling trip in Slovenia, Italy and
Austria next year with the Guralnicks and John Black of
DHTB. That takes care of the year's big cycling
adventure; still working on where to go birding,
contemplating a South American locale (Chile anyone?
birds and wine?).
Wishing you a terrific holiday season and a marvelous
2014.
By the way, if you hover your mouse over the photos,
captions should appear...unless you're on an iPad, in
which case I can't help you. And this probably
doesn't work too well on mobile devices. Oh
well. :-)
