After a successful debut with the Pohang Philharmonic Orchestra, at the age of sixteen, she received the Talented Teenagers National Award in 2005. Saetbyeol completed her Master’s degree at the Eastman School of Music, where she holded an accompanying assistantship and served as the teaching assistant to her teacher, Enrico Elisi. Saetbyeol is currently pursuing her Artist Diploma at The Glenn Gould School of The Royal Conservatory under Professor Marietta Orlov. Born and raised in Seoul, South Korea, Yuri Noh began her musical studies on the piano at the age of five. In addition, she also performed on the Young Artist Recital Series for the Kumho Culture Foundation.

The Paloma O’Shea Santander International Piano Competition and Concert Artists Guild will jointly present pianist Ah Ruem Ahn, top prize winner of the 17th Santander Competition, in recital at Carnegie Hall’s Zankel Hall on Thursday evening, January 31st at 7:30 pm.
Ah Ruem Ahn was born in Suwon, Republic of Korea where she studied at the Kaywon High School of Arts to then pursue her Bachelor of Music at the Yonsei University in Seoul.
Created in 1972 from a desire to assist young pianists of outstanding talent, the Paloma O’Shea Santander International Piano Competition was soon a full member of the World Federation of International Music Competitions in Geneva and has since played a major role in the music international scene.
Founded in 1951 with a mission to discover, nurture & promote young musicians, Concert Artists Guild has helped several hundred young musicians start careers over the past sixty years.

Ten years later she began taking part in several piano competitions in her home country, including the 40th Music Educational Competition (1st prize) and the Daegu 10th TBC Broadcast competition.
She made her solo debut at age 14, performing the Grieg Piano Concerto with the Prime Philharmonic Orchestra. Noh has appeared as a soloist with a number of orchestras in Korea, including Bucheon Philharmonic Orchestra, Busan Philharmonic Orchestra, Seoul National University Orchestra, Prime Philharmonic Orchestra.
Further studies took place at the Hannover Hochschule fur Musik und Theater, where she obtained the Diploma in Arts.
Young pianists come to Santander not only to compete for the prizes but also to enjoy the opportunity of living a remarkable performing experience, since this competition may be considered also as a piano festival, featuring more than 50 performances that range from the intimacy of the recital hall to the orchestra stage. And the range of artistry has been great: from the heart of the tradition to the cutting edge.
Kim won the 2015 Dallas International Competition, 2012 Rochester Philharmonic Concerto Competition and had two concerts with Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra. Also, She had a solo recital in the Busan International Music Festival, Harvard Club of New York and Steinway Hall of New York. The Competition’s most important concerts are held within the Santander International Festival main series and are broadcast by Spain’s Radio and Television channels.
Notable alumni artists include violinist Jennifer Koh, clarinetists David Krakauer and David Shifrin, flutists Carol Wincenc and Marina Piccinini, Imani Winds, the Grammy-winning ensembles eighth blackbird, Pacifica and Parker String Quartets, and MacArthur Fellow flutist and arts entrepreneur Claire Chase. She was invited as the guest artist to perform a solo recital at ‘Rising Star Concert’ at Texas State International Piano Festival (2014).

Upcoming concerts in the current CAG New York Concert Series feature mezzo-soprano Naomi O’Connell at Weill Hall on March 12th, 2013 and the Amphion String Quartet at Weill Hall on April 23rd, 2013. Ahn won Third Prize at the Schubert International Piano Competition in Dortmund and Second Prize and Audience Prize at the Morocco (Rabat) Philharmonic Competition. She was also awarded First Prize at the International Grand Prix ANIMATO (Paris, 2010), the International Paul Hindemith Competition (Berlin, 2009), and at the Klavierpodium der Jugend in Munich. She has appeared as soloist with such orchestras as the Madrid Symphony Orchestra, Real Filharmonia de Galicia, Dortmund Philharmonic, NWD Philharmonic, and the Morocco Philharmonic, among other ensembles. Ahn has participated in master classes with Andras Schiff, Menahem Pressler, Bernd Goetzke, Ralf Gothoni, and Arnulf von Arnim. Upcoming engagements include concerto appearances and recitals in Spain and other European countries as well as a tour of South America. She has been praised for her “surprising musicality” and “smoothness of touch” (La Vanguardia, August 7, 2012), her “poetic qualities” (El Mundo, August 8, 2012), and her “great brilliance” (La Razon, August 8, 2012).
