Master the art of stride piano playing, using the never-before explained techniques of masters like Fats Waller, James P. If you are having trouble with learning this pattern after practicing it for an hour or two. In this blues lick exercise for piano, the trick to playing the grace notes is to slide your pinky off the first note and land on the next key–all in one action. This is great to use in the first two bars, or sixth and seventh bars of the 12 bar blues where you’re going from C to F. 1:40 - This lick is shown over a blues and how to use some variations on the different chords, (C7 F7 G7).
Not sure what to call this version of jingle bells… Is it more jazz or blues or rock? This is for all the intermediate to advanced players who have been asking for something a little bit more challenging, otherwise I would normally break this lesson down into smaller steps. The second half has a walking bass line in the left hand with the right hand embellishing the melody quite a bit with some extra blues notes. At the end I’ve attached a blues lick ending walking down from C, Bb, A, Ab, G back to C while the right hand trys to solo like crazy.
Stride patterns are when your left hand plays just the root down and then jumps up an octave to play the missing notes from the chord. To get the hang of playing stride piano you want to first start out by practicing just with your left hand.
When you’re playing chords in a low range on the piano, use only the outside notes of the chords (shell voicings) to keep it from sounding muddy. In this video piano lesson, I walk you through at a fairly fast pace how to play an ending lick on a song in the key of C. Learn the Left hand bass line first and play it as close as you can to the way I played it in the video. This video continues on from the last piano lesson: Boogie Woogie 101 where we focused on some 2 handed patterns. When they were recording this song, one of the recording engineers made a mistake, which caused the false start at the beginning of the song. Hi Robyn, I bought the lessons a few weeks ago I’m virtually ecstatic with how I’ve finally managed to play after a year of slogging away trying to learn to read music. Hopefully in the next six months I’ll have some piano style demos up on my website to go with the ones that are already there. Robin, I purchased your course a couple of years ago and I must agree with all the other comments that your course is absolutely fantastic. It makes the complex understandable and for those of us who don’t want to master music theory, it gets us playing quite well in a short time. Hi Robin, Thank you so much for the course and I will look forward to receiving the other books next month.
This course is exactly what I have been looking for with all the shortcuts that have been such a mystery to me for years. I’ve picked up more in the short time I’ve had your course (I’m up to Ballad Style) than with the all the other methods I’ve tried.
Again, thanks so much for the most logically arranged, easiest to follow, and best ‘bang for the buck’ piano course I’ve seen, and used. My grandson (6year old) started piano lessons so we bought him a nice keyboard for when he comes to visit and I don’t exactly know how I found your offer on the internet but I did.  At $39 I thought it was too good to be true but I thought what’s the most I could lose ($39) so I gave it a try. I couldn’t believe it, and neither could my wife!  Within an hour, I was making music.  I’m not ready for the public yet but I am actually playing chords to rhythm and  The amazing BROKEN CHORD BALLAD lesson blew me away to see how really simple it is.  That one lesson intro and about 1 hour of practice has me sounding like I’ve been playing for a while and my whole family can’t believe I really learned all I have in less than 3 days! I’ve always thought most of the testimonials  that I read online are more hype than fact but Piano for All is everything you said it is and more (and I am only on Book 1 about page 35)  I will tell everyone I know, who’s ever thought about playing piano or keys that this is the real deal and I hope if you use this testimonial that all who read it will believe me.  Most people who know me personally will testify that I’m an honest man who tries to always tell the truth.

She has spent hours and hours playing over the last two days and has progressed independently through 47 pages of the lesson 1 book.
A belated note to say a very big thank you for putting together such an interesting, motivating, straightforward approach to piano playing! It’s fantastic to have the iPad on the music stand and be able to play, then read, then listen to an audio clip and watch a video clip. Because I am so certain that the Pianoforall method is one of the best available – anywhere!

We need styles that are quick and easy to maintain without having to wake up at the break of dawn every morning to get it right. The treble clef has rhythmic notation - The slashes tell you the rhythms of the notes, but not the specific notes to play. Try and see how it is based around a C major triad and it will help you take it to new keys.
It really highlights the change in harmony because there’s an E in C but an Eb in F7. His original venue was the video game console, but now his music is played by orchestras and bands all over the world! For example, play a low C (single note) then moving an octave up to play another C (single note). As you get lower on the piano with your left hand, you need to make sure to spread the notes out wider and wider. This is an intermediate lesson, you’ll need to go back and rewind quite a few times to pick up the patterns. You will even learn how to read music AS you learn how to ‘play-by-ear’ and eventually you will be able to play some amazing Classical pieces.
Tons of extra practice progressions in the style of popular piano songs and a rhythm chart for 80 Beatles songs plus some great Beatles Piano stylings. By using a mixture of chord knowledge and pianoforall Sight Reading Aids you will now be able to tackle some great classical pieces. This book has tons of fun exercises and memory tricks which you can use at any stage of the pianoforall course.

All of them kindly offered to make their email addresses available to anyone interested in Pianoforall. Just the practice aids and the different scales and memory techniques in Book 9 are worth the price of the course, alone! I have literally tried everything I found online to learn and I was considering giving the piano away to a friend when fortunately I found your lessons. Someday I’ll get around to sight reading and maybe playing some classical music but this is a great way to get up and running fast for song writing on the piano.

You have a lovely teaching style and I will benefit as I am the lead vocalist in a function band but also a very frustrated pianist!
Please accept my highest respect for possibly the best tutorial of all time – I am 74 and have seen a few. I’m a late starter, and don’t have as much time as I’d like to give theory and background their due diligence. I seen a gazillion of them out there but nothing compares to the way you present piano lessons.
I’m still only on Book 1 and I’ve learned so much already, I can’t imagine what you have in store for us in the other books.

I had to practice this over and over again with a metronome, each hand separately first and then together. In other words, Its a short melody made of a small number of notes that you have rehearsed. I find that nothing inspires young kids more than to learn a song they’ve heard a million times on their favorite video game. In the right hand part, again your pinky stays the same while your right thumb moves the same direction as your left thumb. Rather than playing a G major triad in the low octaves (GBD) leave out the middle note and just play G and D.

If you are playing solo piano, then your whole goal is split the chord in your right hand so that the melody is on top and the chord rhythms are playing out beneath.
That means just make up a bunch of stuff with the notes: C Eb F F# G Bb C and it’ll sound great!
I’m sure I looked ridiculous because I had earbuds to listen to the iPad and larger headphones over it for the keyboard.
