From window management with Snap and Task View to virtual desktops and the Command Prompt, there are lots of new goodies for keyboard users in Windows 10. Combine these shortcuts to snap into a corner — for example, Windows Key + Left and then Windows Key + Up would snap a window into the top-left quadrant of the screen. The Task View is a new interface that combined an Expose-like window switching and virtual desktops — an awful lot like Mission Control on Mac OS X. RELATED ARTICLEHow to Use Virtual Desktops in Windows 10Virtual desktops were finally added as a built-in feature in Windows 10. Sadly, there’s not yet a key combination that will move the current window between virtual desktops. The new Command Prompt keyboard shortcuts may not be enabled by default, so be sure to open the Command Prompt’s properties window and enable them first. Microsoft will hopefully add even more keyboard shortcuts as they continue developing Windows 10.

I don’t really know or have the time to research what the exact history of these keyboard shortcuts is on the Mac platform. These are three big reasons why, for me, the default behaviour of the command-Up and command-Down shortcuts in Apple applications is a poor choice.
But surely even they would admit that the symbols painted on the Home and End keys seem to indicate that these are the keys that should be used for the purpose of moving the insertion point all the way to the beginning or end of the document. The most logical thing for me here would be to have command-Home and command-End shortcuts that, in addition to scrolling up to the beginning or down to the end of the document, would also move the insertion point here. But if I try to use command-Home and command-End in Pages ’09 or other Apple applications, I just get… a system beep. Instead, Apple expects you to use command-Up and command-Down when, in addition to scrolling up to the beginning or down to the end of the document, you also want to move the insertion point here.
All this is to say that I really do find the default function of the command-Up and command-Down shortcuts in Pages ’09 and other Apple applications unnatural and I simply cannot get used to it. As you can see, I am using Keyboard Maestro to intercept command-Up and use it to trigger the same action as command-Left, which is to move the insertion point to the beginning of the current line.
Of course, I will also use the same macros in other Apple applications, such as TextEdit, Mail, and Safari. I tried setting the key with mouse-over (the needed option is set in xfce settings) but that do not work for me. Sometimes the shortcuts stops working for me, for example if an confirmation box from Thunar pops up.

This associates the named action "Delete Current Line In One Hit" to the three key actions in the string. Open preferences again and make a new duplicate of the old duplicate and delete the old duplicate. Note that if you install a new version of XCode this won't be preserved whereas your usual key binding customizations will. I hadn't considered using BTT (as something I already use!) Much better than editing something inside the app.
Rhubarb's answer is correct and works but one thing, there is more simple command in plist file. It looks as though XCode now uses a plist file versus a dict file, and the new format doesn't support adding multiple commands to a key binding. In the regular (Global) keybindings.dict file we put separate commands into an array, and that works.
If you don't mind having that key binding in other apps, you could try setting it in the general Cocoa key bindings. One of the powerful features of the advanced text editor built-in to Test Design Studio is Code Snippets. Insert a few blank lines at the bottom of the document, and place the caret at the beginning of the last blank line.
Instead of using the mouse on the Insert Snippet prompt, you may also use the keyboard Up and Down cursor keys to select items, and the Enter key to activate your selection. With the default text of the code snippet selected, type MyClass and press the Enter key when complete. The "Declare a Class" and "Declare a Sub" code snippets, while convenient and more efficient than typing everything by hand, do not illustrate the full power of a Code Snippet.
Hover the mouse cursor over these fields and a tooltip will be displayed providing hints about the use of that field. Now the PropertyName value is highlighted, and the two dependent fields are shown with the dotted border. The "Declare a Property" code snippet better illustrates how code snippets can be used to streamline text entry, provide proper code structure, and update multiple entries of the same text. Only windows from your current virtual desktop will appear in the Task View list, and you can use the virtual desktop switcher at the bottom of the screen to switch between virtual desktops.

Previously, the only way to do this was by right-clicking in the Command Prompt and selecting Mark. For now, the new keyboard shortcuts are very useful — especially to Command Prompt users!
I like how desktops 2.0 does it for Windows 7, where you specify which active desktop you want to use (1-4) and if its not already loaded, loads it up and automatically switches you to it.
But for those who do have such a keyboard, it seems to me that these are the very keys that should be used for this purpose.
But as far as I can tell, they only have one use, and that is to cause the document to scroll up to the beginning or down to the end of the document, without moving the insertion point. Yes, command-Left and command-Right also move the insertion point, but only to the beginning or the end of… the current line. More often than not, I accidentally press command-Up or command-Down to move the cursor back to the beginning or the end of the current paragraph, and of course it does not do that; instead it moves me all the way to the beginning or end of the document, and it annoys me again and again. And I will use a similar scheme to modify the behaviour of option-Up and option-Down in BBEdit, which is another one that drives me insane and that I find impossible to get used to, even after all these years.
If I want to delete 5 lines in TextWrangler for example it's only pressing five times cmd-d.
My natural tendency is to select 3 lines and hit ctrl+D and wipe them all - but it doesn't.
Unfortunately is not an atomic action so if you want to undo, you have to press Cmd Z two times (the two deletes). Please try selecting a menu item from above or to the side of this message to get where you'd like to go. If you resume typing after using these keys, Pages ’09 scrolls right back to where the insertion point was and still is. As I explained in my post yesterday, Keyboard Maestro can intercept any keyboard shortcut in any application and give it a different function.
I would love to make it Windows Key + (1-4) but that was already designated to access objects on the taskbar. So these Home and End keys can only be used to look at the beginning or end of the document, not to move there. Unlike Windows Key + Tab, Alt + Tab lets you switch between open windows on all virtual desktops. At the same time as it undoes the action, it also forces the document to scroll back to where that action took place, which is normally in the very same area where the insertion point was.
