Playing the piano is a skill that many people think has to be started young, and practiced for years and years for anyone to ever get really good at it. Piano For All is a series of 10 ebooks that teaches the reader how to play piano quickly, while eschewing many of the staid standbys of traditional piano teaching. Piano For All can best be thought of as a way for learning music like it’s a foreign language. In addition to focusing on playing and gaining an air for music, Piano For All also does away with many of the childish songs that have been the bread and butter for many people just learning to play the piano.
Piano For All is not something that will instantly make someone able to play all of the popular tunes from a variety of genres of music. The books are meant to be read and learned in order, and every book moves through a new genre of music. Learning to read music can be rather daunting, especially to people who haven’t had any music lessons before, and it is sometimes rather difficult to know where to begin. When you start to learn music theory, it is usually because you are starting to play an instrument, and this is the best way to begin, as you literally learn to practise reading the notes as you play. Even if you are learning to play a different instrument, it is never a waste to learn the notes on a keyboard, as this provides a good visual way to link the theory to a real sound, and to actually see the intervals (jumps between the notes) as you play and hear them. A good music lesson should practise all of the above elements, and as you learn to play the first pieces on any instrument, you will be learning to combine rhythm, notation and note recognition together without really realising it, as all of these things go hand in hand. When you first try to read a piece of music, it should be approached in a systematic way, always looking for all the visual clues and information before playing is even attempted. Like learning any new skill, practice is the key, and this is particularly important with reading music. Hi Loretta, Sorry, I don’t play the guitar, but there are lots of posts on our site which are very helpful for learning to read music with any instrument.
I just purchased the lessons but I’m afraid that I will not receive them as the email was wrong. Children so easily absorb what they are taught that it is a shame they are not taught musical notation at the same time they are taught the alphabet (which most learn by 3), and quickly tire of by repetition. Making it easy to learn music notation could be simply one of the things children must learn like the alphabet and their numbers. So many kids are introduced to musical sound when young, but not the science of music to create the fun.

I completely agree Pat, I am always amazed at how quickly and easily little ones as young as 3 can pick up basic notation and they just accept it naturally. However, learning how to play piano is just like learning how to speak another language; anyone with the time and sufficient dedication can learn how to do it. The books can be downloaded one at a time so that students can go through them as needed, and they come with illustrations in addition to video instructions and, perhaps most importantly, audio so that learning players can understand what sounds they should be making.
While Piano For All is most definitely a series of books that helps people learn how to play the piano, that is like saying that monsoon season is wet.
As research has shown, the best way to learn a foreign language is to do so organically, through immersing oneself in it, hearing it spoken and learning it the same way people originally learned how to speak. All of the video and audio is meant to provide those following along at home with a sense of what the music is supposed to sound like.
However, if one downloads the entire series of them, reads all of the ebooks, follows all of the instructions and makes sure to practice often then it is much more likely that these books will, in fact, teach that person how to play piano. So whether someone wants to learn how to play classical piano, jazz piano, or they want to do something that’s a lot more rock and roll, this ebook series has everything that someone could want to learn in a series of convenient downloads. While it is important to realise that there is no quick fix,  when broken down into easy steps,  it is something that anyone can do with a certain amount of practise and determination. It is also a real bonus that they are such fun that children are very happy to play these games many times over!
Learning the names of the notes – I use an animal themed memory game to help my pupils remember the order of the notes.
Just like learning to read words, with music you start with the basic simple elements and gradually and consistently build on that, increasing the length and level of difficulty as you progress. Of course, it also helps to have the right program that uses all of the best teaching methods to help someone really grasp the material as soon as possible. As such, newer programs don’t deal with vocabulary memorization and useless repetition.

The program teaches people how to recognize music and how to play by ear before it introduces the concept of reading off of sheet music as well. Rather it focuses on more popular songs that people might actually be interested in learning, or even breaking out at a party if there happens to be a piano in the room. However, because of all the audio lessons and the videos that come with the books, the full program is nearly half a gigabyte in size. So in this How To Read Music made Easy blog, I hope to dispel a few myths, and possibly give enough encouragement for one or two new beginners to take the plunge and have a go. This is the best way for children to learn as it gives them a good visual trigger and is very easy to memorise. So it’s important to explain it in simple terms, in a visual hands-on way, using the printable provided, and if possible in front of a keyboard.
If you stick with it, it becomes easier, the more you do it the more naturally it comes and eventually we aim for it to be effortless.
Instead they focus on letting someone listen to the words in the language, and understand the meaning as concepts. This may seem backwards to some people, but it’s very much like learning how to speak before one learns how to read and write.
Older pupils have also found this method really helpful, and who cares, if it works it doesn’t really matter if it is seems a bit babyish!
I think you will find it very helpful, as it will have lots of games and worksheets to help with learning music theory. After all, if someone is only going to read through the lesson plan one book at a time, then there’s no reason to have more than a single book open and reading at a given time. You just need more lines, because the notes go up and down, so we have the five lines of the stave.
