Once youa€™ve found any two black keys you can now look to the key that is to the left of these two and you will find C.
Now that you can label the keys from one C to the next you can name all of the white notes on the piano.
If you graphed all the frequencies of the piano keyboard, you get a nice exponential curve. The difference in frequencies between two notes is equal on the logarithmic scale, when you look at both white and black keys.
There is a piano maker in Newcastle Australia called Stuart & Sons that make pianos with more than 88 keys. So from a physics point of view, there is a nice consistent relationship between the 12 notes in an octave.
I find this interesting, because most songs that we listen to are not based on the chromatic scale.
In Western music, as we will explore in lesson 500, the music we listen to are built on scales with lots of tones and some semi-tones. Modartt has introduced an extended keyboard range for its Pianoteq K1, C3 and M3 virtual grand piano instruments. MODARTT takes up the challenge by providing an unprecedented extra-large key range for its exclusive grand pianos K1, C3 and M3, with no less than 105 keys (17 keys more than the standard keyboard range), ranging from ultra-low rumbling bass to very high bird-like pitches.
The keyboard range expansion was developed to correspond to an increasing demand from Pianoteq users for additional notes. When working out the keys & their signatures It really helps to have a (piano) keyboard in front of you, or at the very least a picture of one.
Keep your hand in the same position on the keyboard.  To get the key signature for the new key, find the note between the upper two of the three fingers that are playing (this is the 4th of the original key and the 7th of the new key) sharpen* it and add this onto the previous key?s signature.
The easiest way is to work out each key as the relative minor of one of the Major Keys with Sharps.
Take each Major Key with Sharps and lower the key by three semi-tones, this gives the 1st of the minor key. An harmonic minor is the same as a natural minor with the addition of a sharpened 7th so raise the seventh note by one semi-tone.  If the seventh is already a sharp then raise it again anyway.

A melodic minor is the same as a natural minor with the addition of a sharpened 6th & 7th but only when go up the scale, they are unchanged when coming down. Keep your hand in the same position on the keyboard.  To get the key signature for the new key, find the note between the upper two of the three fingers that are playing (this is the7th of the original key and the 4th of the new key) flatten* it and add this onto the previous key?s signature.
The easiest way is to work out each key as the relative minor of one of the Major Keys with Flats. Take each Major Key with Flats and lower the key by three semi-tones, this gives the 1st of the minor key. Piano keyboard diagrams to print out - download these FREE piano key notes charts, blank, or  with piano letters note names for your beginner music students!
My newest printable piano keyboard shows the piano keys with the note names on them, white keys and black keys too!
For the first few months of their lessons, they must fill in the piano keyboard paper one key-name per week. Keyboard recognition is important for all musiciansIt's obvious why piano players need to start learning the names of the keys, but why guitarists? They, too, need to understand the topography of the piano keyboard, on which there seem to be black notes "missing" between B and C, and E and F.
Download printable piano keyboard with 3 octaves When I give blank piano keys sheets to guitar beginners, the first thing we do is learn where the guitar strings are located on the piano. Please note that all comments are moderated, and will not appear until I have approved them.
Real Size Keyboard  Not rated yetIn the attached file I am providing the real dimensions of a piano keyboard. Basic Foundation Not rated yetI also agree but it is not only intended for students 6-13 years old.
Venugopal, India:A few months ago I wrote to you about my problem to play with both hands on the piano. Dannielle, Australia:I was wondering if it was at all possible to gain permission from you to use some of the pieces of music on this website for my students performing at an Eisteddod in Australia? A very well-known example of such a high class instrument is the Bosendorfer Imperial Grand, with its 97 keys expanding the bass range. The extended sound palette, obtained thanks to the powerful Pianoteq physical modelling, can be used for example in prominent piano works by Debussy, Ravel and Bartok.
This can be extended across the keyboard as required for two, three or four octave scales. Here are the notes of one octave depicted on a piano keyboard diagram.

The black keys use a lot of ink, and so these paper keyboards are precious commodities once they are printed out!
Also, IF YOU ARE ASKING FOR MUSIC THAT IS NOT IN THE PUBLIC DOMAIN, YOUR REQUEST WILL BE IGNORED. I have found this website most helpful to my teaching and the students seem to enjoy this music. Thank you so much for your hard work getting these on the web, you have made many children very happy!!
Stuart & Sons have also built innovative 102 keys pianos, increasing both the bass and the treble range of the piano.
First one hand, then the other, strikes each D on the piano, from left to right, then back down again right to left (or the other way around -- some free spirit always wants to do it backwards, and it really doesn't matter!). Would you mind if they played some of these pieces in a public setting?Dana:Hi, Dannielle, Absolutely you may use my pieces in public! On some of my free sheets, I have written "For Use by Private Music Teachers" down by the Copyright notice, but I really intend them to be for the use of all teachers and students alike.
Make a technical exercise out of it, for funThis reinforces not just the piano key's location and name, but also a flexible wrist motion. If a student rips the holes so the keyboard sheet doesn't stay in their 3-ring binder, then I mend the edge with wide tape folded over, and punch new holes!Music education?
What does it mean?a€? and a€?Where do I start?a€? To a new piano student, ita€™s only natural to be a little confused by this puzzling black and white layout. How are Westerners culturally wired to accept these patterns as "sounding right"? Ensure the scale maintains a regular rhythm.AccentingSometimes scales are played with a slight accent on every fourth note.
This works well for two and four octave scales.Music ScoreHere is the music score for one octave of the F Major scale, with the right hand starting on the F above Middle C and the left hand starting on the F below middle C. The layout of piano keys is comprised of only twelve notes that are repeated over and over again within a specific pattern.
