Where you put the piano bench and how you position yourself on the bench is a very important part of piano playing. When it comes to learning to play the piano, I have written an important review that you should read. Click here for my number one How to Play Piano recommendation.
It is very important to learn finger numbers because as part of your beginner piano lessons, you have to learn the proper fingering for scales, chords, arpeggios and musical passages. Fingered piano music marks each note with a number that corresponds to one of the five fingers. Click here to learn about my top recommendation for learning to play piano. In our next beginner piano lesson, we will learn about the piano keyboard. My child is only 5 – is it too early to start lessons – might it be a waste of money? These are all frequent questions asked by parents who are interested in starting their child on the piano.
These first piano lessons are a series of short exercises disguised as games, that combine strengthening and co-ordination with note recognition and memory.
With this series of easy first piano lessons, parents will be able to assist their own children in the basic, first steps of playing the piano. If you enjoyed this post, come and join us on Facebook, Pinterest and Google + or subscribe to our free bi-weekly newsletter for many more musical ideas!
Hi Alissa, The note printables for the keys are included in the First Piano lessons eBook, which full of support and tips for young beginners. Hi Lia, The most important thing with young beginners is encouraging them to play as much as possible. The problem is that I didn’t receive the email with the ebook because it was sent to a wrong email, could you please help me with this?

We all learn at different rates, so you want to make sure that the site that you decide to give your money to teaches at a speed that you feel comfortable with.  Many of these sites will have sample videos that you can view to get an idea of what their lessons are like so you know if they would be a good fit for you. You need to decide if you just want to learn to play the basic notes or chords of an instrument or if you want to just learn to play a song or two.  It is important that you find this out as well, so you are not disappointed with the actual lessons that you receive upon purchasing the courses.
I have compiled a piano chords chart containing the two most important chords that you will ever learn, the major and minor chord. The reason for this is because each chord is a derivative, or built from, the major chord or minor chord. The Cmaj7 contains the exact same notes as the C Major Chord, with only one additional note. This is just one example of how once you learn major and minors you can then use the foundation of those two chords to start building more difficult and complex chords. There is a whole lot more then just knowing the notes in the printable piano chord chart, such as Fingering, Inversions, and so on.
By having the proper posture and position you will be able to reach the entire keyboard and be comfortable while practicing or playing.
They are presented in a playful and engaging way that doesn’t cause frustration, but hopefully a little satisfaction along the way. This will lay the foundations in a fun and easy way, giving children the incentive and confidence to go on to a piano teacher for proper one-to-one lessons and be in a strong position to learn and make the most of them. The first piano lessons series gets them started, and the eBook although it does include a lot of the same activities, includes much more in-depth teaching support and resources. You will be able to execute new techniques, master awkward positions, and exercise speed and flexibility. Firstly, it is vital that the child shows a desire and interest in playing the piano, and is happy to sit and concentrate for a short time, say 15 minutes to start with.

Progress will be much faster, and they will be more likely to succeed and develop a real love of the instrument. When children first start learning the piano they need lots of repetition in order to develop an understanding and strengthen their fingers, so these activities and exercises are an excellent way to encourage them. Because of the density of the black keys in the chart, you should be careful not to print these charts too often. You can also lower the density of the printing in your printer settings. Position yourself forward on the piano bench toward the piano but make sure you’re comfortable.
It is a lot easier if they can already read a little, so it is probably best to give that a head start, and not to bombard them with too much information all at once! You will be able to recognize each chord and the shape that it makes on the staff without reading the notes individually or taking the time to study the sheet music.
Search through the printer settings and find where you can adjust the quality of the images. There are too many piano players struggling with their playing because they use the wrong fingers for particular keys.
It also helps if they have strong little hands, although this can be improved with practise, if they have very small hands, it might be better to let them grow a bit!
Use a lesser quality printer setting to use less ink.Print out the printable piano chord and leave it with you at the piano.
