I recently found the Ione Scorpius-M10 mechanical keyboard and while it isn't as good as the old ones, it's one of the few, and rather affordable mechanical keyboards out now at $53. The sound and feel of a Model M keyboard was intended to emulate the fantastic IBM Selectric typewriter keys. Of course you could imagine the noise in a whole office full of such keyboards (or electric typewriters) going at once, so it's probably better suited for home use.
Coming up on the three month mark now since I got my Apple Extended II Keyboard, and I just have to say that I love it even more now that I have spent more time with it. In my opinion, the best keyboard I've ever typed on was the one built into a Commodore 128 computer. I like half-throw keyboards, so If I stop using a laptop, I'll have to find a half throw keyboard or cut the keyboard out of an old Powerbook. Or if you'd prefer to learn how to type all over again, there's always the keyboard Jodie Foster used in Contact. Make sure the keyboard has 107 keys – This is pretty much standard nowadays but just make sure. Make sure the keyboard is standard size – There are some mini ones out there that for me anyway, are just too small to type on.
Make sure the store you buy it from has a good return policy since some cheap keyboards are notorious for returns. One thing I should mention is that shipping is always free on Amazon when you spend at least $25, so if you pick up some additional items this is an even better bargain.
Here’s the link to check it out, like the Amazon keyboard above shipping will be free is the total purchase is at least $25. So there you have it.  If you have kids, go for the Logitech, want some media keys, the Amazon is the best cheap keyboard for you, type a lot and want some durability, well go for the Microsoft keyboard. Getting the best cheap keyboard doesn’t mean spending even more than $12, you just need to know what it is you need and where to look for it. One extra point for this keyboard is that it kept the {F1, F2, …} keys, and in 3 separate groups.
You go to the site and drag keys to create your own key configuration, then click save to create and download the firmware file, then you can use the firmware updater downloaded from their site to set your keyboard's firmware. As of today (2014-05-09), the firmware updater is for Microsoft Windows only, so you need to have access to a Windows machine. You should set one of the space to something, such as Alt or Ctrl or ? Menu, or, set it to Fn and use the key customizer to make combination with other keys near home row to be cursor movement keys such as arrows keys. If you have key-repeat problem, i recommend that you try hitting the problem keys hundreds of times for 2 weeks.

Truly Ergonomic Computer Keyboard Review: One Month with the TECK 2013-03-07 By Jarred Walton. You can spend an absolute fortune on a gaming keyboard, if you’ve got the cash and the inclination. So now you know what the most important features of a pc gaming keyboard are, which one is worth buying?
The Razer Tarantula is definitely aimed at gamers and manages to combine cool style with great functionality. All of the keys are fully programmable, and there are even spare keys with gaming symbols on so you can swap out the standard keyboard keys and replace them with something a bit more meaningful. It’s got a full-colour LED screen that can be programmed to diaply all sorts of useful in-game info, image slideshows or even videos.
Chris is a devout PC gamer who spends way, way too much time sat at his PC either gaming or writing. Otherwise you’re looking at spending a bit more for proper anti-ghosting, something like the Razer Tarantula (up to ten keys at once) is under $80 if you feel you can stretch your budget.
Is it possible for anyone to tell me which keyboard is it on the main picture of this article (the one with the blue backlightning and white backlightning on the keys) ?
The LCD on the G510 and G19 is really nice (much better than the old G15) but I find it’s more useful for monitoring hardware stats (temperatures, CPU load etc) than actual in-game info.
For those that have waited for a new gaming keyboard, the software giant Microsoft, is releasing the new SideWinder X6, which is a great gaming peripheral many would love to have. At the Games Convention in Leipzig, Germany, Microsoft hardware debuted the SideWinder X6 Keyboard – the most versatile gaming keyboard on the market with the first ever switchable keypad. In addition, instant mode keyboard shortcuts allows gamers to move between an Excel spreadsheet and their favorite games in a snap, and the modes are differentiated through the LEDs displayed. WASD gaming keys or keyboard shortcuts: the most commonly used keys for gamers have front-face lighting for enhanced visibility. In-game macro record button allows gamers to record any sequence of keystrokes – even standard chat messages. Quick-Launch key gives one-touch access to Windows Vista Games Explorer, allowing gamers to quickly see the games in their PC’s game library. New Cruise Control feature continues an action without having to hold down the key or keys assigned to the action.
The early days were a time where catalogs didn't have much of a presence in the industry, but what began as a college dorm room operation grew rapidly.
With the exception of having to shim one key that wore prematurely and clean it from spilling grape soda in it it still feels the same and works good. While some of the ergo keyboards I've tried don't have the same tactile feel as some of the nicer regular keyboards, they make up for it in terms of ergonomics. The keys don't feel as nice as the original Microsoft Natural ergo I had, but the 4000 is much comfortable to type on. The Kinesis will take a while to get used to, and is a bit inconvenient for casual use because of the bowl shaped key surface. Meaning, you can design your own layout of the keys, and you can plug this keyboard into any computer and your own personal layout works without needing to reconfigure. But have you got a decent pc gaming keyboard or are you still using that faded old beige thing you got free with your PC many years ago?
With the right keyboard you’ll have better key response and more in-game functions to hand.
These are usually placed across the top or down the side of the keyboard and allow you to assign in-game actions or macros (combinations of key presses) to the keyboard.
The priciest to date is the Logitech G19 with a $199 RRP (although it’s easy to get it for less than that).

The only downside is the size, as it is a bit wide, but other than that it’s difficult to argue against the Saitek.
There is also enhanced anti-ghosting on the keys, so you could press up to ten keys at once and have those actions processed in the game (unlike standard keyboards that only allow up to 3 or 4 keys to be pressed at once). For a long time the G15 was the Daddy of gaming keyboards, now its replacement has taken the crown. There are twelve fully programmable macro keys, each with up to three macros, which should be more than enough.
The Saitek III is an improvement on the older model but the media keys just aren’t as good as the programmable ones on the Cyborg.
Co., LTD established in 2000, which is a professional manufacture of keyboard, mouse, speakers and web camera. The keypad may be attached to the left or right side of the keyboard for ultimate flexibility and make it a left or right handed gamer’s personal choice of keyboard. The set of dedicated macro keys accompanies the fully programmable keypad and enable gamers to record up to 90 macros PER game, and X6’s two-color adjustable back lighting helps set the mood to achieve total immersion. Instantly access your transport controls and memory locations with the integrated numeric keypad. In 1986 we moved to a full product offering and 64-page catalog, which over the years has grown to 162 pages. I don't care for noisy clicking keyboards and find the action of them harder to control as I tend to type too hard or too soft at times causing some keyboards to miss or double type characters. It isn't so huge as the Microsoft Ergonomic 4000, which is also cheaply built for the mass market. However, for programers, we need to use Ctrl often as well, even more frequent than ? Shift for emacs users.
If you like vi ways, it's very good.) You should set left thumb key to send Esc or a lead key for commands. This seems to be a common problem of mechanical keyboards, called key-bouncing, and it may need some time to “break-in”. While you achieve this on a normal keyboard, the number and position of the keys usually make them much easier to use. Anti-ghosting capabilities allow more keys to be pressed simultaneously, meaning you get to move more freely.
You’ve got 12 macro keys down the sides, metal plated keys in key areas to reduce wear and headphone and mic extensions.
Alas, the anti-ghosting means no LED backlighting, but this is compensated for by the glowing media panel and the cool glossy black styling. People are constantly writing new apps for the LCD and you might find that one gets written for your games, but on the other hand it might never happen.
Let your fingers glide over the dedicated media keys with one-touch access for volume, power and more. Similarly, pressing b results in pressing Delete in the center, because my finger want to move more to the right. This way, ? Shift is at the same position as standard PC keyboard, and one less problem when typing on someone else's keyboard. A unique scissor mechanism maintains ultra smooth movement whether you're typing War and Peace or making the movie.
