The population of Columbia has increased 25% over the last decade. Sales tax revenue per capita, or total sales tax collected divided by population, has decreased 15% in the same period. There are fewer dollars collected per person from sales tax, which has raised concerns about a possible reduction of services in a growing city heavily reliant on sales tax revenue.
