Updating the DS-Client configuration file parameters
The DS-Client configuration file (dsclient.cfg) is a text file that stores basic configuration information about the DS-Client, such as the account number and account key of the DS-Client and the IP address of the DS-System, as well as any DS-Client advanced parameter values that differ from the default value.
NOTE: The DS-Client configuration file is created during the installation process and is available only for the Linux or Mac DS-Client. For the Windows DS-Client, the equivalent information resides in the registry and the database.
In the DS-Client configuration file, information is listed as key-value pairs, in which a colon (“:”) separates the key from the value. The name of the key can be followed by any number of spaces before the colon (“:”). Depending on the key, the value may or may not be case sensitive.
IMPORTANT: We recommend that you do not access or modify the DS-Client configuration file except when performing database migration or troubleshooting database issues. If the dsclient.cfg file is improperly configured, damaged, or missing, the DS-Client might not start.
To update the DS-Client configuration file parameters:
1. Access the DS-Client configuration file in the following location:
/<DS-Client HOME>/etc/dsclient.cfg
2. Find the key-value pair that represents the parameter that you want to modify and make the required changes.
NOTE: When modifying the value of a parameter, always assume that the value is case sensitive.
3. Save the DS-Client configuration file.
To update passwords in the DS-Client configuration file:
Passwords in the DS-Client configuration file must be in an encrypted format.
NOTE: To generate an encrypted version of your password, use the Asigra Encryption Tool (asigraenc). For information, see the Tools User Guide.
