DS-Client Help : Using premium backup and recovery services : Backup Lifecycle Management (BLM) : Performing an on-demand BLM request

Performing an on-demand BLM request
You can perform an on demand BLM Request for any existing backup with backed up data online. The backup does not have to be configured with the BLM (Infinite Generations) option. BLM Requests can be performed as follows:
According to schedule from DS-Client
On demand from DS-Client
NOTE:  An alternative is to contact your service provider and have them perform the BLM Request from the DS-System side on demand.
To perform an on-demand BLM request:
1. Click the Backup Sets tab.
2. Select the backup on which you want to perform an on-demand BLM request.
3. On the Backup menu, click BLM Request.
4. Select the backup items you want to copy to the BLM archive, and then click Next.
5. Do the following:
a) In the Archive Label box, type a label for the archive package.
b) To use a new archive package, select the Close archive packages check box, and then specify when the archive package will be closed. Once an archive package is closed, no new data will be added. Subsequent archiving requests will create a new archive package.
c) To allow the archive package to contain references to older archive packages, select the Reference previous archive package(s) check box. This can save space by removing data redundancy.
d) Under Generations to include, specify if you want the archive package to contain the latest generation or all generations of the items selected.
e) Click Finish.
