DS-Client Help : Working with backups : Backup types : Instant recovery backups

Instant recovery backups
Instant recovery backups allow you to save uncompressed and unencrypted backup data in its native format to a configured storage location called the instant recovery vault. Your service provider must enable the Local Storage and Local-only Capacity tools and assign a maximum storage amount for the DS-Client.
There are two instant recovery backup configurations.
Instant recovery backup type — With this configuration, each time a backup is run, a new generation is stored in the instant recovery vault up to the maximum number of generations configured for the backup item.
Online backup type with the Save in instant recovery vault option — With this configuration, data is backed up to both online storage and the instant recovery vault.
The following backup types support instant recovery:
File System
Microsoft Exchange Server (VSS-aware)
Microsoft Hyper-V Server (VSS-aware)
Microsoft SharePoint Server (VSS-aware)
Microsoft SQL Server (VSS-aware)
VMware vCenter Server
