Instant recovery backups
Instant recovery backups allow you to save uncompressed and unencrypted backup data in its native format to a configured storage location called the instant recovery vault. Your service provider must enable the Local Storage and Local-only Capacity tools and assign a maximum storage amount for the DS-Client.
There are two instant recovery backup configurations.
• Instant recovery backup type — With this configuration, each time a backup is run, a new generation is stored in the instant recovery vault up to the maximum number of generations configured for the backup item.
• Online backup type with the Save in instant recovery vault option — With this configuration, data is backed up to both online storage and the instant recovery vault.
The following backup types support instant recovery:
• File System
• Microsoft Exchange Server (VSS-aware)
• Microsoft Hyper-V Server (VSS-aware)
• Microsoft SharePoint Server (VSS-aware)
• Microsoft SQL Server (VSS-aware)
• VMware vCenter Server
