Scheduling the emptying of trash
NOTE:  By default, the trash feature is enabled on a DS-System. You can turn this option on or off using the TrashSwitch parameter in the DS-System Advanced Configuration dialog box. See “Configuring the advanced settings”.
You can schedule several Empty Trash tasks on the DS-System. Each task will perform one pass through each backup set on the DS-System. For more information, see: “Emptying the trash from an extensible storage location”.
To schedule the emptying of trash:
1. On the Setup menu, click Schedule. The Schedules dialog box appears.

2. To add a scheduled task, click Add. The New Schedule Wizard appears.
NOTE:  To edit a scheduled task, select it and click Edit.

3. On the Select Schedule Type page, select Empty Trash, and then click Next.
4. On the Select Schedule Time page, do the following:
a) Under Detail Type, select the frequency of the schedule.
b) Under Daily Frequency, specify when the schedule will start, and optionally, when to force the scheduled activity to end.
c) Click Next.

5. On the Options page, do the following:
a) Beside the Remove files older than this number of days box, select how old the deleted data must be to qualify for delete.
b) Beside the Concurrent empty trash processes box, select the number of the processes that run concurrently. Each storage location requires one empty trash process.
c) Beside the Additional empty trash threads box, select the number of additional threads used by each empty trash process.
NOTE:  A scheduled empty trash task runs on all of the DS-System’s extensible storage locations.

6. Click Finish.
