DS-User F1 Help for GUI (Context-Sensitive) : Select Restore Performance Options (Windows DS-Client)

Select Restore Performance Options (Windows DS-Client)
This dialog box allows you to make some optional performance configurations. In general, you should use the defaults unless you have a high performance environment and the backup selected for restore is very large.

Maximum pending asynchronous I/O for a file
This is the maximum I/O operations the DS-Client will queue for each file during the restore process.
Use DS-Client’s settings
(Default) Uses the setting in the DS-Client Advanced Configurations > Category: Performance > Parameter: MaxPendingIOPerFile.
Use specific value
You can override the default and set a custom value that only applies for this backup set.
This option is intended for high performance backup environments. You must be able to test the different settings to determine the optimal value.
This is only useful if the target storage containing the backup data is fast and efficient enough to take advantage of the increased I/O.
WARNING: Slower storage might suffer performance drops if this value is increased too much.
DS-System side read threads
This setting affects the DS-System side of the process. It instructs the DS-System how many files to read simultaneously for this restore process.
Use DS-Client’s settings
(Default) Uses the setting in the DS-Client Advanced Configurations > Category: Performance > Parameter: MaxRestoreReadThreads.
Note: The actual value used maybe limited for some special backup sets.
