The following is applicable if your Windows DS-Client fails to back up files from Windows 2008, Windows 7, or Windows 8 computers with either of the following errors:
The request is not supported
OR
operation not supported
Windows DS-Clients running on either Windows VISTA or Windows 2008 may encounter these errors when trying to back up files from remote Windows 2008, Windows 7, or Windows 8 computers.
This is a Microsoft bug (KB 973278), which can be fixed with their hot fix that is supplied at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/973278
• Apply this hot fix to the DS-Client computer (that is running Windows VISTA or Windows 2008).
