About the local storage cache
The local storage cache is an option that you can select in a backup set. It is a disk location for the temporary storage of backup data when connection is lost while a backup is in progress.
If this option is selected and the connection from DS-Client to the DS-System is lost during a backup activity (that is, all configured retries do not succeed), DS-Client processes the data from the source and saves the data as a full backup in a compressed and encrypted format on the local storage cache. As soon as a connection to the DS-System is reestablished, the backup data is sent from the local storage cache to the DS-System. If the connection from DS-Client to the DS-System is maintained throughout the entire backup activity, the local storage cache is not used.
IMPORTANT:  The local storage cache location is the same as the local storage path, which is on the same LAN as the DS-Client machine. Make sure the location that you select as the local storage path offers sufficient capacity to accommodate the requirements for both functions. When used, the local storage cache supports the total amount of data that needs to be master processed and backed up in a compressed and encrypted format for a backup set.
