  • Hoops for Hughes Charity Basketball

    Hoops for Hughes Charity Basketball Game tickets are NOW on sale!! Game day is 5/20 at 7 p.m. at Yorktown HS. Discovery and Nottingham 5th graders will play a fun game of basketball to raise money for the Hughes Foundation! Tickets are only $5 each.

  • Outdoor Lab Overnight

    Fifth graders spent the night at the Outdoor Lab on Thursday, May 5th. Despite the rainy weather, a lot of learning took place as students pitched their own tents, studied aquatic animals in the stream, and examined many geological specimens found at the Lab. They even got to try their hand at canoeing and had a campfire hot dog cookout! Ask your 5th grader what their favorite activity was!

  • Net Zero Energy Success

    You might know that Discovery was designed to be a Net Zero Energy school, meaning that the amount of energy provided by on-site renewable energy sources (like our many solar panels) is equal to the amount of energy used. But did you know that in the month of April, Discovery produced 10,000 kilowatts of energy MORE than it used?! According to VMDO architect Philip Donovan, that amount of energy could power a small home for a year!
