Odie’s Oil uses the finest oils and waxes produced by nature to protect your wood surfaces. This single amazing finish can be used anywhere and is so easy to apply that almost anyone can use it with success.
Walnut Oil or Almond Oil These are all-natural oils and are one of the few oils that do not turn rancid as easily as other oils.
RUBBING OUT A FINISH Use this oil for wet sanding a finish prior to rubbing out a finish, instead of water which will allow the abrasive to cut too quickly. These oils and waxes evolved in nature to protect plants from the constant bombardment of the elements, insects, fungi and other bio-organisms. Always buff the finish to a beautiful sheen sometime after application and buff the surface until it feels smooth and almost dry to touch.
Odie’s Oil contains no solvents, so almost nothing evaporates from the application during the drying process. I have been making cutting boards for almost 10 years and come up with my own formula for sealing the wood. I'm a chef by trade, Made a butch block table for home kitchen, and sealing it with mineral oil every so often, works great keeps moisture out and its 123.
This Medical, Pharmaceutical and Food Grade, Mineral Oil is food safe for use on chopping boards, bread boards, salad bowls, and all wooden food utensils where you want a natural and safe finish for raw timber.
FRENCH POLISHING Use this oil when French polishing as the lubricant for your polishing pad.

The wood surface and pores are completely saturated with the oils and waxes in the Odie’s Oil that is applied, so there is no room for unwanted water, moisture or stains from wine, oil, grease, juice, etc! It will not go rancid and does not contain lead driers, wax, polyurethane, tung oil or any other pollutants as some others oils. This oil is also the recommended oil for use with our Hard Shellac as it works much better than any others.
You can use any finish that's appropriate to your project, including varnish, lacquer, shellac, and boiled linseed oil. We looked at the material safety data sheet (MSDS) for one type of salad bowl finish and found toluene--a probable cancer hazard--along with naphtha, ethyl benzene, and cobalt, all of which can damage your health with sufficient exposure. About every year or so, I'll sand down our cutting board (it gets a lot of use in our kitchen) and apply a few more coats of finish. Because of its properties that prevent water absorption, combined with its lack of flavour and odour, this food grade mineral oil, is an ideal preservative for wooden food utensils, butchers blocks, chopping boards, bread boards, salad bowls, wooden spoons, etc. Using this oil will slow down the cutting process and make it easier to get a great, even, result, without as much fear of cutting back through the surface of the finish.
When mixed with 1% oil of cloves oil it is used by Japanese sword makers to protect the sword blades.
For example, one salad bowl finish recommends three days of curing after the final finishing step; one brushing lacquer calls for seven days of curing before normal use. What I like about their products is that the wax seems to have a very high concentration of carnauba wax because I have not found any other wax finish out there that gives me the type of shine that clark's does.

Rubbing a small amount of mineral oil into wooden kitchen items periodically will prevent absorption of food odors and ease cleaning, as well as maintain the integrity of the wood, which is otherwise subjected to repeated wetting and drying in the course of use. Because it is a non drying oil it can be left on the surface for a long period of time and will not skin on the surface like linseed which is traditionally used for this process. Some kinds of finish cure by evaporation of their solvent, and some cure by reacting with oxygen.
The trick is to keep the wood completely sealed so moisture never gets to the wood or glue joints.
PLEASE NOTE: This oil has no fragrance and will not taint or change the taste of food the way some other oils may. This oil can also be used as a coating on metal tools, as it is an excellent way to inhibit oxidation. Just to be safe, add a couple of days to any recommendation before putting the finished item to use. This oil can also be used to clean heavier oil stains by diluting and liquefying the other oils, rendering the oils more easily washed away with detergents.
The oils and waxes in Odie’s Oil are at home in wood because wood is where they originally evolved.
