A FANWALL system creates an even piston of airflow through the air tunnel to provide more uniform air velocities across filters and coils. Eliminate belts, sheaves, and bearings that require routine maintenance and will degrade performance over time. FANWALL systems are designed to eliminate vibration at the source, within each FANWALL cube, through stringent balance requirements and the use of sturdy components. FANWALL cubes are not limited to a fixed size, enabling the array to be selected to more closely fit air tunnel dimensions so that the fans produce a uniform piston of air over the entire coil surface for optimal heat transfer and even filter loading. The patent pending FANWALL backdraft damper prevents parasitic losses due to backflow through idled fans and motors. Patented enclosure for FANWALL cubes is lined with perforated steel and acoustic insulation to provide as much as an 18 dB reduction in discharge sound power, particularly in lower octave bands.


The 17 additional motor horsepower selections between 1 and 15 hp for FANWALL systems are made possible by the cooling effect of airflow over the motor fins within the patented Coplanar Silencer enclosure. Exclusively offered with FANWALL systems as a best-in-class energy-saving motor, the ultra-high efficiency FANWALL Permanent Magnet (PM) motor maintains industry-leading efficiency across its operating range. In the Smart Cube configuration, active control components are factory-installed and wired at the FANWALL cube for quick connection to power at the control panel. Because each VFD is sized for the fan brake horsepower it serves, versus all or part of the array, the unit main wire size and electrical components can typically be reduced accordingly. This eliminates labor and time to field-install power wiring, pressure tubing and communications cabling in the air handler, and dramatically reduces the size and complexity of the unit control panel. It can also help eliminate the need for a concrete inertia pad for the air handler, and facilitate meeting requirements for seismic certification.
The added flexibility also proves effective in reducing the finish work required for retrofit applications, and allows the optimal combination of fans and motors to be selected to match air handler length restrictions, desired redundancy, and reduced brake horsepower and electrical requirements.


Each module is attached to the FANWALL cube inlet, requiring minimal cabinet depth and it can fit easily in available space when replacing conventional fans.
Additional benefits can include reduced wiring and switchgear costs, and higher operating efficiency for the air handler. The difference in operating motor power input (kW) can be as much as 4% less at full load and 22% less at 50% load. Ultimately, customers benefit from reliable, close control of indoor environment conditions, lower installation costs, high energy efficiency and low operating costs. With the exception that their nameplate horsepower reflects the specific duty selected for a given FANWALL system, the motors are standard totally enclosed air over (TEAO) motors, with standard NEMA T-frame sizes and Class H rated insulation. In addition to energy and operating cost savings, benefits can include lower electrical demand and connected horsepower, and higher power utilization efficiency (PUE). The control panel can be downsized for the smaller physical size of the VFDs, and reduced even further if the VFDs are mounted at each cube. The FANWALL VFD includes a fully-integrated pressure transducer and MCP disconnect, and is designed for seamless integration with the FANWALL cube to avoid airflow disturbance.
The Active Noise Control option is available with the FANWALL system backdraft damper or in free inlet configuration. FANWALL PM motors require a dedicated VFD and Coplanar Silencer to be applied in a FANWALL system. A fan, motor or VFD failure is inherently isolated, eliminating the need for a bypass VFD or the potential for a ground fault failure of the entire array. Exclusive R3FILTERING™ stops the source of harmonic distortion to help meet IEEE519 without an external line reactor or filter. N+1 redundancy can be selected for the lowest possible connected horsepower as only a portion of the total system brake horsepower need be replaced. Up to 32 drives can be commissioned and controlled from the remote touch pad, giving you full control of each VFD, individual or aggregate motor status and all parameter adjustments and fault feedback.
