[00:00] Jesus did not give up on St. Peter, even though St. Peter denied Him three times. St. Peter stayed and trusted in the mercy of Jesus, and of course our Lord [00:37] had appeared to him prior to this, but He restored him to his role as leader, leader of the Apostles, leader of His Church, shepherd of His people, "Feed my sheep, feed my lambs, feed my, feed my sheep, repair for your, for your denial of Me by your faithfulness from now on. Follow Me, follow Me and, and ultimately [01:10] die for My sheep too, as he did." Our Lord did not give up on him because he repented deeply, deeply, deeply, greatly repented because he had turned his back on his Master whom he loved very greatly. He gave in to fear, but he would not give in to fear again when he had a chance to offer his life at the end of his life. So [01:44] our Lord lifts him up, strengthens him, and restores him to the leader of His entire Church, the Vicar of Christ. He says, "Do you love Me before the charcoal fire again? Do you love Me three times?" And that's the opposite of betrayal, loving, loving your beloved and being faithful. And He did ask him to follow [02:17] Jesus, follow in His footsteps, follow, do what Jesus did, go save souls, save souls, and that's what he did for the rest of his life. Faithfulness until the end. The longest living Pope, we believe somewhere around 35 years, being the leader of the Church. And he stayed faithful to our, to our Lord. And so we ask St. Peter to [02:53] intercede for us that we will be faithful to our Lord by loving Him to the death.
